Atlantic Rim

If you’re ready for some lighthearted fun in the form of a mockbuster movie, then get ready for Atlantic Rim! This movie features extremely simple dialogue with robots that look like they’re right out of Real Steel fighting giant lizard monsters in cities. This movie features a bunch of people we haven’t heard of along with Treach from Naughty By Nature fighting “very large” monsters and stuff from the sea.

BIMA The Garuda Warrior: Indonesia’s Own Toku Series!

A new original Toku series, BIMA The Garuda Warrior is set to premiere in Indonesia on June 30th.

But what makes BIMA interesting is that it appears to be officially backed Ishimori Productions with merchandise provided by Bandai.

BIMA the Garuda Warrior tells the story of Ray, a young man from Earth chosen to protect the Earth from an evil named VUDO, whom is out to steal Earth’s natural resources

Pacific Rim News Roundup

Excited for the American tokusatsu movie Pacific Rim? There’s been some interesting news lately, and we’re here to fill you in! Nothing like seeing some footage so check out the Japanese trailer:

According to NintendoLife, Yuke’s is both developing and publishing the Pacific Rim video game. No word on which consoles but considering the source is a Nintendo site, it could be for the 3DS and/or WiiU.

Just a few more months until Pacific Rim hits theaters!

Kikaider Revival Project Announced!

The end credits of Super Hero Taisen Z would reveal some surprising news: Shotaro Ishinomori’s Kikaider will be making a come back with a new revival project in the works.

However, at the time of this posting it is currently unknown whether or not this project will be another anime adaption or live action. We’ll bring more news on this project as it becomes available.

Atlantic Rim – Your Low Budget Daikaiju Alternative

You may have heard of a little film called Pacific Rim by Guillermo del Toro which sees the return of the Daikaiju genre to the west! Exciting news indeed for kaiju and mecha fans far and wide. However, have you heard of the tentatively titled Atlantic Rim/From the Sea?

Well mockbuster production company The Asylum (infamous for such borderline knockoff films as Snakes on a train, The Day The Earth Stopped, Transmorphers, Titanic II, Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus, and much more) is busy producing this latest entry. Shooting has begun for the film in the Pensacola, Florida area and walks the line of the plot for Pacific Rim. As told by the films Second Unit Director:

The storyline is that these monsters come from the sea. The sea floor opens up and these things come out. They terrorize the East Coast from Miami to Washington D.C., and the good guys send them back packing.

The Asylum is notorious for their almost exclusively straight to DVD films, their ongoing legal battles with major studios, and their tendency to walk the line of legality when making these mockbusters.

Ultra-Act King Gridman Revealed

Among many other updates on the Bandai Tamashii Site today comes a surprise! Only discovered yesterday in a Figure-Oh Scan, the Tamashii site has fully revealed Ultra-Act King Gridman!

This figure will be released in August as a Tamashii Web Exclusive for 6,300 yen. If you’re a fan of Denkou Choujin Gridman or Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad then King Gridman is a must own!

Beetleborgs Metallix Heading to DVD

Since Shout! Factory has completed the first season of “Big Bad Beetleborgs” DVD releases, Amazon.com has opened orders for “Season 2, Volume 1”- better known under the subtitle “Metallix.”

This new 3-disc volume will be released June 11th for a relatively affordable cost of 19.95
