Just over 1 month ago TokuNation began the countdown to January 4th 2016, which marked our official 4 year anniversary!  And as with every year to honor our anniversary, we hosted the massive Toku Toy Box giveaway! It’s been over 1 month since we began but Toku Toy Box is finally coming to an end! This year has been possibly our biggest yet and we really tried to pull out all the stops in bringing you as many toy galleries as possible, with the biggest prize packs we could afford to offer. 2015 is officially coming to a close tonight for those of us in the US, and for many of our users around the world 2016 has already dawned! But before we can ring in the new year we wanted to find out what YOU thought about the toy releases of this past year. What were your Top Toku Toys of 2015?

Some of the staff got together recently to share their thoughts on what exactly the top toku toys of this year were. Our answers ranged from the inexpensive and fun 66Action figures, to S.H. Figuarts like Drive & Mach, all the way up the other end of the spectrum with S.H. Figuarts Tridoron!

Well this looks like something we can all definitely be thankful for this year! Occasionally we share rare & interesting toku auctions we find on ebay but this is on an entirely different level.

The fine folks at Serious Toyz[/URL] have just opened up a special set of auctions aimed at collectors of vintage Japanese die cast toys & robots with a special emphasis on tokusatsu! Running the range of Metal Heroes, Super Sentai, Ultraman, Godzilla, & Kamen Rider this auction consists of a number of rare finds from a personal collection that was greatly cared for with many items having either never been opened or even used.

It isn’t often we see near mint & rare vintage releases like this for sale. So we wanted to share this with the community in the hopes that someone here may finally be able to fill a unique hole in their collection they’ve been after!

Premium Bandai has been on a Ranger Key kick this year with announcements of sets like the Sentai Lost Legend & ToQger Rainbow keys. Today brings yet another awesome reveal with the introduction of the Ranger Key EX Metal Heroes Edition Set!

This incredible new set will contain the primary Metal Hero of every series fromg Uchuu Keiji Gavan up through Blue Swat! A premium set of Metal Hero key previously released in conjunction with Super Hero Taisen Z contains the other lead heroes absent from this set. The following are included:

-Gavan
-Sharivan
-Shaider
-Juspion
-Spielban
-Metalder
-Fire
-Solbraver
-Swat Sho
-Gavan Type G

Curiosuly that’s yet another set of Metal Hero keys where Toei has conveniently forgotten the final 2 series of the franchise. B-Robo Kabutack, which shared a crossover with both B-Fightes. And the follow-up to Kabutack, Tetsuwan Tantei Robotack. Perhaps those keys will be released eventually. For now the EX Metal Hero Key set will retail for 13,500 yen and be released in February!

You may recall that in 2013 some incredible behind the scenes footage of Gosei Sentai Dairanger made it’s way online via former Power Rangers stunt coordinator Jeff Pruit. This type of video is quite rare & often not shared with the general public. However one such behind the scenes video has been released today. Posted by youtube user kbigstone is an incredibly rare look behind the scenes of Kagaku Sentai Dynaman!

But that’s not all! This video was of course shot on the Toei studio lot, so multiple series were being filmed at the time. And while there’s no proper video of these other series the below video includes some rare stills from two other Toei productions. Seiun Kamen Machineman & Uchuu Keiji Sharivan! Specifically of the Machine Dolphin & Motosharian set props!

Dynaman, Machineman, & Sharivan just barely overlapped their filming schedules to make it possible to see them all on set at the same time. It’s a truly incredible video to watch. We rarely if ever see such behind the scenes prep as this. Please enjoy this video courtesy of youtube user kbigstone!

This has been one great show this year! However the absence of Super Sentai figuarts & the smaller presence of Metal Heroes & other offbeat toku heroes is noticeable. The first day of the show has wound down but Tamashii Nations 2015 will go on through this weekend. We’ve had a ton of reveals up to this point but a LOT more are apparently on the way as more sections of the show are made available to the general public. A portion of the rumored figures list comes from The Ghouly News, but still take it with a bit of salt as we can’t confirm some of these figures yet. Thanks to some teaser images released by Bandai we have at least a few confirmed things to look forward to:

Some new magazine scans for upcoming episodes of Shuriken Sentai Ninninger have been posted online, revealing yet another Ninja teamup- this time with Ninja Metal Hero, Jiraiya!

Jiraiya- star of Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya will be played by his original actor, Takumi Tsutsui .

Plot details and air date for this special teamup are unrevealed at the time of writing. Stay tuned to TokuNation as we keep you up to date on all Ninja news!
