S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider J Gallery

Posted on March 28, 2017 at 7:31 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Henshin!”

It’s been a long time coming but I’m happy to announce my return to TokuNation galleries! And it’s time to take a look at the long awaited final Showa Rider, Kamen Rider J! J rounds out the trinity of movie exclusive riders from the post-RX era that is still considered Showa by Toei. The 3 films,Shin, ZO, & J are some of my favorite guilty pleasures. Each for differnet reasons. So it brings me great pleasure to finally own all 3 of these figures. This has been nearly 3 years in the making.

Kamen Rider J, you’ll notice has a very similar design to ZO. Which is intentional, but has also caused many people to mistake the two for one another for years. But when you get down to it, they are both very very different. The two figuarts themselves don’t share a bit of molding at all that I can determine, so J winds up with his own unique personality from ZO. While not perfect, J is an admirable send off to the Showa Era of Kamen Rider. Now let’s hope his iconic Rider Machine, the J-Crosser, is on the way soon.

Check out our full 50 image gallery of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider J by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back soon with a few overdue galleries from Kamen Rider Drive, Tokkei Winspector, Kamen Rider Amazons, and more!

TokuNation.com 5th Year Anniversary Celebration

Posted on January 4, 2017 at 9:00 am by Chris under Contests and Giveaways, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates

What a fun and interesting journey it has been.

Five years ago today (January 4th 2012) TokuNation was opened. Following in the footsteps of two of our sister sites, TFW2005.com and ToyArk.com, we sought to become a destination website for news and galleries for your favorite tokusatsu properties. But there’s always more to the story than a simple tagline so sit down and we’ll tell you a tale…

Nearly six years ago I came up with the idea for TokuNation. I approached our network owner, the infamous Tony Bacala, with my proposal and after some back and forth I was given the green-light but only if I had a staff in place. So for months I scoured the Internet (and TFW2005.com forums) looking for individuals that had a passion for not just Power Rangers, but also Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Godzilla, and more obscure tokustasu franchises. After some time, a staff was put together and the site began to take shape.

Since the site launched we’ve covered every major United States convention that featured official Power Rangers merchandise and show-information (San Diego Comic Con, New York Comic Con, Toy Fair, Power Morphicon). We’ve been blessed to meet and speak with numerous entities involved with Power Rangers (the casts of Power Rangers Super Megaforce, Power Rangers Dino Charge, Executive Producer Chip Lynn, countless former Power Rangers actors and voice actors). We’ve been recognized by Saban Brands, TOEI, Bandai America, Bandai Japan, Tamashii Nations, BOOM! Studios, Lionsgate, and Legendary Pictures. Pretty sure PaperCutZ recognized us too but not for the best of reasons (thanks Den-O!). We’ve also been recognized by a few law firms (again, thanks Den-O!).

But most importantly of all – we’ve been recognized by YOU. For five years now a group of friends have worked long hours on a volunteer basis to bring you news, information, and galleries of all things tokusatsu. And it’s because of YOU, the viewers/readers/followers that continue to come to the site or reach out to us on social media, that we continue to do this. Today we will announce the winners of our annual Toku Toy Box giveaway where four lucky individuals will take home potentially HUNDREDS of dollars in free collectibles. We do that every year as a way to say THANK YOU for giving us a reason and the motivation to continue doing what we do. We love to do it and we hope to continue to grow it year after year. We’re only here today because of you.

Today we will also launch three new giveaways – on our Facebook page, our Twitter account (@TokuNation), and our Instagram account (@TokuNation). Be sure to follow them so you can enter for a chance to win even more free stuff!

And on a personal note – a huge thank you to the present staff (Den-O, Sentai Tamashii, Paladin, KamenRiderOOO, Kiryu, ZeoRangerV, Uchihabro77) for the amazing work they do day in and day out, whether it’s on the forums watching out for those spambots or posting news for the world to see. I also want to tip my hat and thank the staff that have been with us in the past and have moved on in their lives – we got here because of you and we will continue to grow because of what you contributed. Thanks also to the boss man (Tony Bacala), the best damn guy behind the scenes you’ll never meet (Joe Moore), and everyone who has given us motivation or praise for what we’ve done.

The first 5 years have been a blast. We cannot wait to see where the next 5 years take us. Be sure to stay tuned – the amount of stuff we have in store for this year alone will blow you away! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Amazon (Amazon JP Edition) Gallery – Final Toku Toy Box Entry

Posted on December 31, 2016 at 11:26 am by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Aaaaaamaaaaaazoonnnnnnnnnn!!!”

The finale of Toku Toy Box is here! For our final gallery this year we’ve decided to mix things up a bit. In honor of the recently released figuarts of Alpha & Omega from the Kamen Rider Amazons mini-series, we’re sharing a gallery of their Showa Predecessor. S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Amazon (Amazon JP Edition)!

The original Kamen Rider Amazon was the definition of a violent berserker, so it’s no wonder his Heisei counterparts share that aspect of his nature. This release of Amazon was exclusive to Amazon Japan years ago, just as there are now Amazon JP editions for Alpha & Omega. The primary difference being the boxes, and in Showa Amazons’ a special personalized Tamashii Stage Label. But don’t be folled by this figures age, S.H. FIguarts Kamen Rider Amazon is still an excellent addition to any rider collection.

Enjoy over 60 images of this figure by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. As always we have a full review written up as well! This has been the final Toku Toy Box gallery for this years giveaway. The winners will be selected at random on January 4th!

S.H. Figuarts Space Sheriff Gavan Gallery – Toku Toy Box Entry

Posted on December 29, 2016 at 11:59 am by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Metal Heroes, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Jouchaku!”

Whether you know him from recent appearances in films like Super Hero Taisen Z or Gokaiger VS Gavan, or from his original television series, Space Sheriff Gavan has been an iconic hero in the tokusatsu world for decades.

Now the Metal Heroes franchise stands at the edge of it’s 35th anniversary in 2017. Gavan is getting a lot of love next year with the 1:1 scale replica of the Laser Blade, a renewal figuart with his bike, and yet another movie appearance! So we felt the time was right, now more than ever, to take a look back at the original S.H. Figuarts Space Sheriff Gavan for Toku Toy Box!

We’ve got over 60 images of S.H. Figuarts Space Sheriff Gavan for your viewing pleasure after the jump. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back in 2 days with the FINAL  Toku Toy Box gallery as well!

S.H. Figuarts Machine Ghostriker Gallery – Toku Toy Box Entry

Posted on December 27, 2016 at 11:49 am by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

It’s time to make Toku Toy Box burn bright with another gallery from Kamen Rider Ghost! Last month we took a look at Ghost Toucon Boost, and previously we examined Ghost Ore Damashii as well as Specter. This time around we’re spotlighting Takeru’s sweet ride with S.H. Figuarts Machine Ghostriker!

As with most any basic Rider Machine release, Machine Ghostriker is pretty straightforward & bare bones. Lite on accessories, the Ghostriker includes both a clear wheel base and interestingly a Tamashii Stage Adapter for action scenes. And although this release is lacking in anything else unique, it thankfully benefits from rock bottom discount prices currently on sites like Amiami.com. Do yourself a favor and at least pick it up as an accessory for one of your Ghost figuarts.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but you can view the full gallery after the jump by clikcing “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back in 2 more days with the penultimate Toku Toy Box gallery!

Toku Toy Box Gallery Special: TV-Kun Contest Prize Silver Kuwajiro

Posted on December 25, 2016 at 7:46 am by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Metal Heroes, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Superchange!”

I know you probably weren’t expecting us to double up on galleries from B-Robo Kabutack with this years’ Toku Toy Box, but just for Christmas we wanted to give you an incredible treat. Today we’re sharing an unprecedented look at an elusive figure of which only 5 exist in the world. We are proud to present this full gallery of the Superchange Silver Chrome Kuwajiro!

You read that right. This incredibly rare figure was limited to just 5. These figures were awarded to 5 young lucky Japanese fans for a Coloring Contest hosted by TV-Kun Magazine in 1997. Since then they’ve mostly faded into obscurity. Most Metal Hero collectors simply don’t know this release exists. The other 4 Kuwajiros are currently in collections somewhere across the world but I was lucky enough to stumble upon an auction for this one myself. And now I’m immeasurably proud to be able to share this full gallery of it below.

We’ve taken over 50 photos of this incredible figure and you can view them all by clicking “Discuss on the The TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. It’s purchases like these that truly excite me. I absolutely love sharing looks at obscure & rare figures with this community, and Silver Kuwajiro fits both those criteria fantastically. I hope you enjoyed this gallery as much I did!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider TheBee Gallery – Toku Toy Box Entry

Posted on December 23, 2016 at 12:13 pm by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Cast Off! Change, Wasp!”

After a pair of Shinkocchou Seihou galleries from Kamen Rider Kabuto we thought we’d roll the clock back a bit for Toku Toy Box. Back to a character that as of yet, hasn’t even been teased to receive the premium renewal treatment that Kabuto, Gattack, & Dark Kabuto have. Join us in a brief look back at S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider TheBee!

While TheBee is one of the older releases in the overall S.H. Figuarts line, as far as Kabuto figures go it was the 10th. So it doesn’t suffer from as many of the issues that plagued early releases in the line-up. While Figuarts of this time are undoubtedly outdated and under-accessorized, TheBee is still a truly memorable design with some charm to it. The figure itself goes for rock bottom prices these days and there’s no sign of a Shinkocchou Seihou renewal on the horizon, yet. The Hopper Bros were just teased at Tamashii Nations 2016 though, so anything’s possible. Check out our full gallery & review to see why TheBee may be worth picking up for now.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but you can view the entire 40 image gallery by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back on Christmas day with a truly one of a kind gallery for you as well!

S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider W Gallery – Toku Toy Box Entry

Posted on December 21, 2016 at 10:28 am by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Now, count up your sins.”

A hotly anticipated release joins the line up for Toku Toy Box! In 2009 any first time fans made their way into Kamen Rider thorough Kamen Rider W, and as collector’s they’ve had to make due with the flawed offerings Bandai had produced up til now, but no more. S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider W is finally here and blowing every previous release away!

Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider W is in every conceivable way, the superior to the original line of W figuarts. There is no comparison, aside from the painful side by side I made of the two in the thread below. It’s incredible what an additional 5+ years of engineering has done for this line, and this character in particular. W’s suit is lavishly faithfully recreated here, and the figure has the properly engineered articulation to make full use of the charms and body language this design is capable of. Add a fully functional Double Driver with removable Gaia Memories and the two most perfect scarves ever, and you have the #1 Kamen Rider release of the year. Hands down.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post, but you can view over 70 images of S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider W after the jump. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to see entire gallery and review. We’ll be back in two more days with another Toku Toy Box Gallery!
