Bandai Officially Announces Merger of S.H. Figuarts & D-Arts Lines

Posted on February 6, 2014 at 9:44 pm by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, Kamen Rider, Metal Heroes, Power Rangers

It’s time to end the speculation folks. This news comes courtesy of our sister site ToyArk. Bandai Tamashii Nations has announced that their S.H. Figuarts and D-Arts lines will be merged together. D-Arts as a sub line is now over.

Beginning in April 2014, figures that would have fallen under the D-Arts banner will now be released under the S.H. Figuarts line. A couple of confusing examples of this change over have been reported recently. Non-Toku figures such as Mario, Imperialdramon Fighter Mode, and Lucario were all originally intended for the D-Arts line. However with the discontinuation of that line these figures have been solicited as S.H. Figuarts as will all future releases that would have been in that line.

For anyone who wants to join in on the discussion of S.H. Figuarts (toku or non) hit up our two main discussion threads on the topic. The non-toku S.H. Figuarts thread in General Discussion will also retroactively encompass the D-Arts line from this point on.

S.H. Figuarts Alternative Zero Sponsored Gallery

Posted on January 28, 2014 at 1:40 am by Den-O under Kamen Rider

Advent!

It’s time once again to visit a classic rider series. A favorite here at TokuNation, Kamen Rider Ryuki was featured in one of our earliest Let’s Watch Wednesdays segments. Well today, courtesy of site sponsor Entertainment Earth, we’re happy to bring you yet another gallery from Ryuki. This time it’s the Pseudo Rider, S.H. Figuarts Alternative Zero!

Entertainment Earth

Alternative Zero being a pseudo rider, shares many characteristics at a basic level with the other Ryuki riders. But being based on a copy of the rider technology Alternative Zero gives off a much more imposing, and evil exterior. An incredible looking, and well made figure, S.H. Figuarts Alternative Zero is the perfect addition to any Ryuki (or even Dragon Knight) collection.

Check out the full gallery, and review of this figure by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. And be sure to head  over to Entertainment Earth to fulfill your Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Power Rangers, Ultraman, Godzilla, and other tokusatsu needs!

Ultra-Act Dark Zagi Gallery

Posted on January 26, 2014 at 1:08 am by Den-O under TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights, Ultraman

Were you a fan of Let’s Watch Wednesdays with Ultraman Nexus? If so then you’re in luck, on top of our previous Ultraman Nexus Junis Red & Junis Blue galleries we have a special web exclusive treat for you! Today we have a gallery of Ultra-Act Dark Zagi!

Zagi himself is a dark clone or copy of Nexus’ original form, Ultraman Noa. As such he has immense power at his control and is wildly violent. First rearing his ugly mug  in the Nexus finale, Zagi (or at least some version of him) would later return in Ultraman Ginga briefly. Though not the first or last dark giant or evil/dark Ultra, Zagi is certainly one of the most vile. Schemeing for decades towards his ultimate goal Zagi has gone down as one of the great Ultra villains. And this figure more than lives up to the image of that character, a welcome addition to any Ultra-Act collection.

Click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to view our entire gallery of this figure.

S.I.C. Mezool Official Images

Posted on January 23, 2014 at 4:34 am by ZeoRangerV under Kamen Rider

The Super Imaginative Chogokin line continues its journey through Kamen Rider OOO with the official announcement of S.I.C. Mezool. Much like the S.I.C. Uva figure that came before it, the aquatic Greeed is a static statue rather than an articulated figure, but still features the stylisation the line is known for.

Mezool will be released as a Tamashii Web Exclusive in June, priced 5184 yen.

S.H. MonsterArts Mothra and Battra Larvae Official Images

Posted on January 23, 2014 at 4:23 am by ZeoRangerV under Godzilla

Just after we revealed their release via a magazine scan, Bandai’s Tamashii Webstore has updated with official images of the forthcoming S.H. MonsterArts Mothra and Battra larvae forms! This special 2-pack is of the monsters as they first appeared in the 1992 film Godzilla vs. Mothra, and retains the impressive size difference between the two. The set also comes with a special silk effect part for Mothra, and the text also mentions a stand (although this is not pictured).

The set is a Tamashii Web Exclusive due for release in June, and can be yours for the price of 10,800 yen. However as is the case with most MonsterArts figures, this is likely to be released in the West via Bluefin Tamashii Nations. We’ll bring you updates on that as they come!

Makai Kado Zen and Gai Gold Ver. Official Images

Posted on January 23, 2014 at 4:05 am by ZeoRangerV under Garo

Are you all ready for brand new GARO this year? But before we move onto the new installments in this fast-growing franchise, the Makai Kado line has revealed two new releases from last year’s GARO: The One Who Shines in the Darkness.

This special 2-pack contains golden versions of Flame Knight Zen and Heavenly Bow Knight Gai, who were enhanced with the radiance of Garo’s golden armor in the series’ final battle against Zedom. As well as replacement hands for the two figures, this set also includes a special backdrop for the two figures to be displayed alongside the soon-to-be-released golden version of the Ryuga Garo armor.

The 2-pack is a Tamashii Web Exclusive due for release in June, priced 14,040 yen.
