Let’s Watch Wednesdays Week 1 Mahou Sentai Magiranger 1-3

Posted on January 22, 2014 at 10:34 am by Den-O under Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

Let’s Watch Wednesdays @ Tokunation returns! Though I suppose we were never gone ;) After a few intense and close rounds of voting, the community has spoken. It was a tight race at the end but our next Let’s Watch segment will be Mahou Sentai Magiranger! And now it’s time to meet the Ozu family, mother Miyuki and her 5 children.

But this is by no means an average family! Little do her kids know, Miyuki is actually a magician chose by the heavenly saint and known as Magi Mother! And soon it’ll be up to her kids to take on Branken, Vancuria, & the Infershia as Mahou Sentai Magiranger! But they better watch out, the Dark Magic Knight Wolzard has arrived alongside the Infershia with goals of his own. Can these 5 siblings inherit the legacy of their mother and long lost father to defend the world?

To join in our magical musings click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post.

But we also need to announce the winners of our last LWW giveaway from Kamen Rider Blade! Up for grabs was a grand prize of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Blade, we also had a secondary prize yet to be revealed. Well that’s a little white lie. There were two yet to be revealed items. First the grand prize winner will receive both Kamen Rider Blade AND his bike the Blue Spader! And our runner-up will receive a rare World Characters Convention 2004 Kamen Rider Blade Turn Up Version Vinyl!

And the winners are, losondro (Blade & Blue Spader) and Electric Turahk (Blade Turn up)!

Posted on January 15, 2014 at 7:08 pm by Den-O under Garo, General Tokusatsu News, Godzilla, Kamen Rider, Metal Heroes, Power Rangers, Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights, Ultraman

It’s that time again folks! Kamen Rider Blade has ended and we’re sad to see it go, but now it’s time for us to pick up a new show for Let’s Watch Wednesdays!

As always Let’s Watch Wednesdays is intended to get the community together to check out some older tokusatsu they may not have seen before. We ask that each user make only 1 nomination. The 10 nominations with the most users behind them will be featured in a poll to decide the actual series for the segment next week. This nomination thread will be open from today January 15th through Sunday January 19th at 12 Midnight EST. So get your choices in before then.

There are a few other stipulations for nominating any new shows for LWW such as those series which are ineligible. So click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to check them out and get started! We look forward to all of your suggestions!

Let’s Watch Wednesdays Finale! Kamen Rider Blade Missing Ace & Hyper Battle Video

Posted on January 15, 2014 at 10:06 am by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

And now we take our final look at Kamen Rider Blade for Let’s Watch Wednesdays!
In an alternate world to the TV series Kenzaki made a different choice. Rather than
Spoiler:
becoming an Undead
he chose to seal Hajime and end the Battle Fight for good. 4 years later 3 new riders Glaive, Larc, and Lance have taken up the charge of fighting the Undead?! But if they were all sealed before, even Joker, then how can this be? A second Joker has appeared, the 4 Kings have created a new card, and ancient power is up for grabs. This is Kamen Rider Blade: Missing Ace!

And there’s more! As an added bonus we’re also viewing the Hyper Battle Video for the series Blade VS. Blade! A Trial Series Undead will attempt to become Kenzaki, and the other riders will have to figure out which is which (it should be easy).

This week is also your FINAL chance to post in these discussion threads and be entered for a chance to win S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Blade or our secondary prize! Be sure to click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” to take you to the weekly discussion thread. Every post there gives you a chance to win and this is the final thread to do so! We’ll have a nominations thread for the next Let’s Watch Wednesdays segment this week as well.

Let’s Watch Wednesdays Week 16 Kamen Rider Blade 46-49

Posted on January 8, 2014 at 11:33 am by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

And we’re back with our regularly scheduled programming on Let’s Watch Wednesdays! But this is the home stretch for Kamen Rider Blade. With only 4 episodes and a movie left we’ll mix up the end of this segment. This week will be the final 4 episodes, 46-49. Then next week to end it all we’ll be viewing the Blade Movie, Missing Ace!

If Joker wins the Battle Fight the world ends. But Tenonji will use a Trump Card in this fight, The Fifth Ace Kerberos. The one Undead created by man, not the Master. Between Tennouji and the final Category King controlling it’s power, the Battle Fight will be brought to an end.

But humans can only survive if the riders win, and if they do Hajime must be sealed too. Garren will make the impossible choice to save a life, a winner will be declared, the Dark Roach will be born, and the end of the Battle Fight will be turned on it’s head. As long as two Undead exist the battle never ends. Kenzaki will make the ultimate sacrifice, for the eternal stalemate.

Don’t forget that this week and next will be your final chances to be entered in our Let’s Watch Wednesdays giveaway! Every post you make in our LWW Discussion threads will automatically enter you in for a chance to win S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Blade, or our to be revealed secondary prize! The poll for the next LWW series will be in 2 weeks so get your nominations ready!

Let’s Watch Wednesdays Thursday Edition Kamen Rider Blade 43-45

Posted on January 2, 2014 at 8:55 pm by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

Let’s Watch Wednesdays is back at Tokunation  for the new year! It’s time for one last Thursday edition with Kamen Rider Blade before we pick back up for your regularly scheduled programming next week!

In a failed attempt at King Form Mutsuki unsealed his Category Ace. But the kind spirit of Shima saved him allowing him to use Shima’s category King power. With Blade’s King Rouzer in hand, the Spider Ace is at last pure, the true Leangle is born! But that won’t stop Tenounji’s brainwashed Undead from seeding chaos among the riders. Leangle has his power, but does he have the determination to use it now? Can the riders draw out their real enemy? Can they end the Battle Fight?

Be sure to take a look at and post in our weekly Let’s Watch discussion thread by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums”. Every post enters you in to possibly win an S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Blade or even a secret secondary prize! We’re near the end of our time with Kamen Rider Blade, and soon enough it’ll be time to choose our new show!

TokuNation Users Vote Jason David Frank the Best Power Ranger of All Time

Posted on December 31, 2013 at 2:00 pm by Chris under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Power Rangers, we asked the users at TokuNation to rank who they thought the 10 Best Power Rangers were (with #1 being, of course, their top choice). We then took the nominations, what rank they were, and assigned each rank a certain numerical value that would allow them to be added and averaged in a fair way. In overwhelming fashion (literally more than twice the number that the #2 entrant received), the fans at TokuNation.com selected Jason David Frank – who played Tommy Oliver the Green Ranger and White Ranger from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the Red Ranger for both Power Rangers Zeo and Power Rangers Turbo, and finally the Black Ranger from Power Rangers Dino Thunder – as the Greatest Power Ranger of All Time.

The character Tommy Oliver first appeared in the episode “Green With Evil Part 1” on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Tommy was the new kid in school and showcased an incredible, aggressive style of martial arts. He befriends Kimberly immediately, but as he’s supposed to meet her, Rita Repulsa appears and sends the Putty Patrol after him. Tommy is victorious, and Rita Repulsa decides that Tommy will be the one to wield the Dragon Coin and become her evil Green Ranger.

Given the Sword of Darkness, Tommy overpowers the other Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. He separates the Red Ranger, Jason, away from the others and systematically picks them apart piece by piece, removing Zordon and Alpha 5 from the equation. Good always triumphs over evil however, and the Power Rangers restore Zordon, who shares Tommy’s secret identity with the team. Together, they destroy the Sword of Darkness, thus freeing Tommy from evil, and he, along with his mighty Dragonzord, join the team. At this point, Tommy is nothing more than reinforcements – while he will fight with the others in civilian form, his only scenes in the Green Ranger costume are to call forth the mighty Dragonzord to aid the others. However, Rita Repulsa uses the Green Candle to absorb Tommy’s powers. The others are unable to destroy the candle, and Tommy has to give his power coin to Jason, thus leaving the team.

But when you’re the Best Power Ranger of All Time, you never get to leave for good. When the other Power Rangers had their parents kidnapped and they were duped in to giving up their Power Coins, as well as losing the Dragon Dagger to Goldar, they brought Tommy back as their only hope for salvation. Zordon infused his own energy with the Green Power Coin, and Tommy’s Green Ranger powers were restored, at least for small bursts of time. As soon as he grabbed the box containing the Power Coins, his body absorbed the energy from the force field and restored his powers. Tommy, and the Green Ranger, were back!

Sadly, the Green Ranger powers were limited and destined to run out, this time for good. When Lord Zedd ousted Rita Repulsa and took over, he made it his primary goal to eliminate the Green Ranger once and for all. He would succeed, draining all of the Green Ranger energies, but not before Tommy saved the day one last time. With Lord Zedd stronger than ever, the Power Rangers knew they needed another 6th Ranger. Unbeknownst to the team, Zordon and Alpha 5 create the White Ranger, and in one of the most watched children’s television shows of all time, White Light Part 2, the White Ranger is revealed to be Tommy, his powers created completely from good powers and bestowed as the new team leader. With Tommy as the White Ranger and leader of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, they would defeat Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa time and time again.

When Goldar and Rito Revolto manage to destroy the Command Center, along with the arrival of the evil Machine Empire, Zordon uses the powerful Zeo Crystal to create the Power Rangers Zeo, with Tommy becoming the Red Ranger. When the evil space pirate Divatox arrives on Earth, Zordon creates the Turbo Powers to combat this new threat, giving creation to the Power Rangers Turbo. Tommy would continue to lead as the Red Ranger until he, and the others, decide that it’s time to pass on the power so they can continue on with the next phase of their lives. Tommy, as a race car driver, would leave the Power Rangers for many years (and miss out on some of the biggest battles!).

When General Venjix, a leftover from the evil Machine Empire, surfaces and attempts to restore Lord Zedd‘s personal zord, Serpentera, Tommy gathers a team of veteran Red Rangers to come together and destroy the Machine Empire once and for all in the episode “Forever Red”, which acted as the franchise’s 10th Anniversary special.

During all this down time, Tommy went to college and become a doctor of paleontology. He discovered the Dino Gems, mysterious jewels taken from the asteroid that crashed on Earth and killed the dinosaurs. When an evil creature known as Mesogag appears, Tommy knows he has to harness the energies of the gems to create a new team of Power Rangers. Three of his high school students stumble in to his secret lab and bond with the gems. With Tommy’s help, they morph in to the Power Rangers Dino Thunder, and Tommy is thrown in to the role of a mentor to his new team. But when he detects the presence of a fourth gem, Tommy goes to inform his students when he is kidnapped by Mesogag, who wants Tommy to show him how to free the Dino Gem from it’s prison. Through a twist of fate, Tommy ends up bonding with the gem and morphing in to the Dino Thunder Black Ranger, stating that he “might be old, but can still pull it off”. In one of the most beloved episodes of the entire franchise, Tommy winds up in a coma, fighting for his life, and ends up fighting his former incarnations – the Mighty Morphin Green & White Rangers, as well as the Zeo Red Ranger. Victory means life, defeat means death. When all is said and done, Tommy implies that he will stay in Reefside and continue teaching.

But you can’t keep the Best Power Ranger of All Time down. When The Armada overpowers the Power Rangers Super Megaforce, Tommy will once again take up the power to help save the world. Tommy will return as the Mighty Morphin Green Ranger in the series finale of Power Rangers Super Megaforce, airing in late 2014.

Jason David Frank is the actor who played Tommy Oliver for more episodes in the franchise than any other actor or character. Jason David Frank is a 7th degree black belt, an inductee in to the World Karate Union Hall of Fame, a Guinness Book of World Records record holder, an undefeated MMA Fighter, owner of the Rising Sun Karatae schools, creator of the clothing brand Jesus Didn’t Tap, an accomplished sky diver, an actor, a husband, a father, a reoccurring guest of the Wizard World convention circuit, and according to our users, The Best Power Ranger of All Time. Congratulations Jason David Frank.

Thank you to all the TokuNation.com users who participated in this event. We had over 75 different Power Rangers nominated, and we calculated all the nominations to create our Top 20 list. Please take a moment to review our Top 20, listed below:
