S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Gold Drive Gallery

Posted on October 31, 2016 at 11:30 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates

“Familial love? I felt no such thing.”

After a weekend of fantastic teases for possible releases from Kamen Rider Drive, we thought it was finally time to take a look at this excellent release. One of the strangest but most welcome retail releases for sometime, it’s everyone’s favorite maniacal, apocalypse bringing, evil deadbeat dad! That’s right, it’s S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Gold Drive!

Gold Drive is a pretty straightforward repaint of the basic Drive Type Speed figuart with Proto-Drive’s archetype gear/proto-tire. The thing is though that this release takes an already fantastic mold, and spruces it up with the perfect paint apps. While this release brings literally nothing new to the table mold or accessory wise (in fact it comes with less) it’s probably the nicest use of this body so far. With the upcoming release of Zero Drive we’ve already seen 4 versions of this mold. Come on Bandai, when can we have Type high Speed? But this is yet another excellent addition to any Kamen Rider Drive, or in fact evil Rider/toku villain collection! Read on to find out why.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but you can enjoy a full gallery of 70 images of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Gold Drive by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post!

500th Gallery Celebration

Posted on October 22, 2016 at 1:03 pm by Chris under TokuNation Site Updates

It’s been a long time coming but we’re finally here! After nearly 5 years as a community, TokuNation has hit a huge milestone. You’ve enjoyed our articles, our convention coverage, our on again off again podcasts, our thinkpieces, episode reviews, comic reviews, and everything in between. But you’ve also enjoyed something we’ve been striving to make better and better from the day we opened our doors – our Galleries!

For nearly 5 years now the Photo & Content staff here at TokuNation have been bringing you in hand image galleries of your favorite old and new collectibles. Plumbing the depths of Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Power Rangers, Godzilla, Ultraman, Garo, Mystic Knights, Pacific Rim, Beetleborgs, and anything else we can! From day one we wanted to give you a great experience. Looking back at our first efforts now, it’s clear we had a long way to go before becoming your #1 source for photos and content. But we were committed to bringing content in any form we were able to. And that’s what’s brought us to today.

Now after 5 years of hard work, we can treat you to something a little different from our usual galleries. For our landmark 500th Gallery we have assembled an array of incredible action shots, dynamic poses, fight scenes, and just plain fun photos. There’s no theme to this gallery, no specific figure featured, not even 1 particular franchise. This gallery runs the gamut of fun and interesting figures we had on hand and wanted to play with! We just wanted to have fun with this one, and in turn let you have a good time as well.

Shots were contributed to this gallery by myself and Den-O. As the years have gone on, he and I have become a tandem, a duo if you will, who push each other to be better with each shot. And we’re poised now to bring you even better quality pictures than you’ve seen before!

So this 500th gallery is about more than just celebrating the number. It’s about celebrating the fun community we’ve built in the last 5 years. The progres we’ve made as photographers. And the progress our collections have made as our focus has shifted and changed over time. We plan to continue bringing you new and exciting galleries of vintage & modern figures forever. But for now, please enjoy this montage of shots we really just had fun with. We’ll see you again in another 500!

S.H. Figuarts Yellow Buster & Usada Lettuce Gallery 2.0

Posted on April 29, 2016 at 10:05 pm by Den-O under Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

It’s time for Buster!

TokuNation is finally ready to finish the journey it began nearly 5 months ago. Our Gallery 2.0 retrospective for Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters comes to an end with this final gallery, S.H. Figuarts Yellow Buster & Usada Lettuce!

Yellow Buster & Usada are the 5th and sadly last release in the Go-Busters Figuarts subline. But this pair are a more than admirable send off. Between the standard accessory load out of the Buster mold & the inclusion of Usada, this release is more than worth the  fair prices it goes for now. And with it you can at least complete the original trios of Buster & Buddyroids.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but you can view the full gallery by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled news and rumors from the world of tokusatsu for an exciting announcement!

You may recall that last year my wife and I welcomed the birth of our daughter into our little family. And the love & support we received from this community were overwhelming. So I would be doing this community and one of my best friends in the entire world a disservice if I did not wish a massive CONGRATULATIONS to our fearless leader Kickback on the birth of his son!

Please join us in wishing all of the best to Kickback AKA Chris AKA @rankal, his healthy baby boy, and his brave missus @jadesloth! Welcome to the family little man!

Talkin Toku Podcast – The Final Episode – Released

Posted on January 25, 2016 at 5:56 pm by Chris under Kamen Rider, Power Rangers, Super Sentai, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates

Just over two years ago, three friends got together and decided that all their conversations they were having on text messages could be translated to an audio format – like a podcast – and maybe people would be interested in hearing what they had to say. Fast forward two years and we’ve been incredibly humbled by everyone’s support and well wishes for our podcast – Talkin Toku Podcast – as we’ve slowly began to close shop.

Today is the day that we officially end the podcast.

But, to quote the immortal band Semisonic and their infamous goodbye song, “every new beginning comes from some other new beginning’s end” – and nothing could be truer. While the podcast comes to a close, we’ve been working behind the scenes on expanding our media footprint in the world. While we don’t have anything specifically to share or announce as of right now, please note that we’ve committed ourselves to new, engaging ways to bring to you the same humor and passion that you’ve come to expect. Trust us when we say it’s worth the wait!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Kiva-La Gallery – Toku Toy Box Entry!

Posted on December 3, 2015 at 11:34 am by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

Toku Toy Box returns today with another gallery from the modern day and today’s subject is S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Kiva-La! Who also happens to be one of the prizes in our Rider Prize Pack!

The heroic W & Decade Movie Wars exclusive rider Kiva-La is incredibly unique and rarely seen in Kamen Rider media. Appearing in that film alone Kiva-LA single handedly killed and would later team up with Kamen Rider Decade as well riders Diend & Kuuga to fight the final battle of the film. As unique as her background, S.H. Figuarts Kiva-La is a brand new gorgeous mold that will be sure to impress collectors. Though she has some minor drawbacks it’s always refreshing to see a new female rider join the line!

Check out 40 images of S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Kiva-La as well as a full review by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post! A post in this thread will automatically qualify you for a chance to win a Prize Pack in our Toku Toy Box giveaway!

Legacy Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Movie White Ranger Gallery

Posted on April 26, 2015 at 10:08 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates

The power is on for the final time at TokuNation!

We’ve taken a look at 6 figures so far in Bandai of America’s Power Rangers 5″ Legacy Line for the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Movie, and today we wrap up our coverage of this line with the 7th and final figure! Rounding out the 6 movie rangers is the Legacy Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Movie White Ranger!

As with our previously reviewed Movie Rangers this figure marks the first time ever that the Movie White Ranger has been portrayed properly in toy form. Oddly enough, though this figure comes with fewer accessories than all the others, it somehow winds up being the best executed of the set. The Movie White Ranger may not come with much but he does come with his one and only weapon, the trusty talking tiger saber, Saba! We break down the ins and outs of this figure, both positive & negative, in the review after the jump.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but the full gallery thread contains over 40 images! We’ve tried to fully showcase this figure and in fact the entire Legacy Movie lineup with this gallery. In the coming months TokuNation will return with more movie themed galleries as we prep for the 20th anniversary of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie! To catch up on our full coverage of this line just follow the links below!
