Robotack Magnet Change Kamerock Gallery – Toku Toy Box Entry

Posted on December 13, 2016 at 11:25 am by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, General Tokusatsu News, Metal Heroes, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Magnet Change!”

We’ve returned with another retro gallery from one of my favorites toylines ever for Toku Toy Box! That of Tetsuwan Tantei Robotack! You may recall that last December the inaugural gallery in this series was the shows’ lead character Robotack, well today we’re taking a look at his companion and equally awesome super robot, Magnet Change Kamerock! For a broader explanation of the series itself, feel free to read through my previous Robotack gallery linked to above.

Kamerock is yet another wonderful example of one of my favorite toylines. With the Magnet Change/ジシャックチェンジ gimmick on full display when using another figure in the line, you can see just how addictive it is. Kamerock is a Wonder Turtle type robot with a pretty innocent looking Normal Mode, but a beefy bruiser of a Super Mode. You can see how he interacts with his companion Robotack, in the full gallery below.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post, but you can view the full 40 image gallery by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back in 2 days with another new gallery for Toku Toy Box!

S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Dark Kabuto Gallery – Toku Toy Box Entry

Posted on December 11, 2016 at 2:20 pm by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Cast Off: Change Beetle!”

Toku Toy Box is taking a look at another new premium style release from Tamashii Nations! Recently released as a Tamashii Nations 2016 event exclusive S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Dark Kabuto follows up S.S. Gattack and S.S. Kabuto as the third release in the Kabuto line. You may recall that last month , we also did a gallery of the Original Release Dark Kabuto, well let’s just say that the Shinkocchou Seihou is a massive improvement.

Just as with S.S. Kabuto & Gattack, Dark Kabuto features the brilliant body type that began the entire Seihou line. Once again this figure proves just how incredible the engineering for premium releases like this is. We recently glimpsed prototypes of the infamous Hopper Bros from Kabuto at Tamashii Nations 2016 as well, so the Kabuto lineup of S.S. releases  is really starting to shape up nicely. For now though Dark Kabuto is another fantastic addition that includes the perfect accessories to compliment his gorgeous design and paint scheme.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post, but you can view over 50 images of S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Dark Kabuto in the full gallery thread. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back in two more days with another Toku Toy Box gallery!

S.I.C. Akumaizer 3 Gallery – Toku Toy Box Entry

Posted on December 9, 2016 at 11:44 am by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, General Tokusatsu News, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Let our Janklers roar, we are Akumaizer 3!”

The classic 1975 Shotaro Ishinomori series Akumaizer 3 may not be something you’re familiar with, but today that changes with our special Toku Toy Box gallery of the S.I.C. Akumaizer 3!

The series stars Zabitan, a rogue member of the Demon Clan who has come to the human world in order to become a hero, as well as his initial pursuers but eventual allies Ibiru & Gabura. This MASSIVE S.I.C. three pack contains all 3 members of the team as well as multiple heads & hands for Ibiru & Zabitan. But that’s not all! The trio’s signature Sabres, Zarad Irad & Garad are all included, and Ibiru’s Jo Gun and Gabura’s Mace & Axe are all included as well! This truly comprehensive release is the perfect fit for any fan of this series, or in fact obscure Tokusatsu in general. We have a brief overview of this show in the gallery thread.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but you can check out over 90 images of the incredible S.I.C. Akumaizer 3 set after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation” Forums at the bottom of this post.

S.H. Figuarts Alien Baltan Gallery – Toku Toy Box Entry

Posted on December 7, 2016 at 10:24 am by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights, Ultraman

One of Ultraman’s oldest & most persistent foes arrives for today’s Toku Toy Box Gallery with S.H. Figuarts Alien Baltan!

The 2nd release commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Ultra franchise, Alien Baltan is a companion piece to the recently released S.H. Figuarts Ultraman. However, unlike Ultraman, Baltan is a very straightforward and pretty bare bones release. With no accessories at all, the merits of this figure are based solely on it’s exquisite sculpt, paint apps, and personality. Does it effectively recreate the classic space ninja we all know and love? Read on to find out!

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but you can view the entire 50 image gallery of S.H. Figuarts Alien Baltan after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back in two days with another Toku Toy Box gallery!

S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Gattack Gallery – Toku Toy Box Entry

Posted on December 5, 2016 at 8:11 pm by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Cast Off: Change, Stag Beetle!”

Toku Toy Box continues with another gallery of a recent release. Today’s subject was long overdue, and thankfully the wait has been worth it. S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Gattack is yet another incredible entry into Bandai’s high end line of renewals.

Kamen Rider Gattack is of course the secondary rider of Kabuto & the case can definitely be made that he’s the real star of the show. And thanks to the fantastic engineering of the S.S. Kabuto body, this star really gets the chance to shine. Gattack includes the full range of articulation previously seen with Kabuto and brings his own gorgeous color scheme and accessories to the party. Both of Gattack’s Double Caliburs are included & they can combine for his Rider Cutting finish. Also, unlike Kabuto, Gattack even includes an alternate version of his Zecter! To see how vastly improved this figure is you can also check out our S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Gattack (Original Release) gallery.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but you can view the entire 60 image gallery below by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back in two days with the next gallery for Toku Toy Box!

Tokkei Winspector: S.H. Figuarts Walter Gallery – Toku Toy Box Entry

Posted on December 1, 2016 at 9:38 pm by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Metal Heroes, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Mayday mayday SOS!”

Toku Toy Box has officially begun! And the first gallery that can qualify you for entry in this years’ contest is none other than S.H. Figuarts Walter from Tokkei Winspector!

Walter rounds out the Winspector trio in spectacular fashion following up from comrades Fire & Bikel. An accessory pack for the team was just released as well, we’ll be taking a look at it next month. But for now Walter is a magnificent follow up to two excellent releases. Featuring all the hallmarks of this subline, Walter has excellent articulation and a plethora of accessories for display options. His signature Dislider jetpack/shield, a pair of oil cans for having a drink, numerous extra hands, and the ever present Daytric M2 sidearm. Walter is the perfection finish to an excellent lineup of characters.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post, but you can actually view the entire 80 image gallery after the jump by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. We’ll be back in 2 days with the next Toku Toy Box gallery as well! For now though, enjoy S.H. Figuarts walter!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Dark Kabuto (Original Release) Gallery

Posted on November 23, 2016 at 9:24 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

“Cast Off: Change Beetle!”

A dark reflection arrives in our latest retro Kamen Rider Kabuto gallery, it’s S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Dark Kabuto (Original Release)! This classic release predates the recent Tamashii Nations exclusive Shinkocchou Seihou Dark Kabuto by a number of years. And while it’s clearly been outclasses by the S.S. release now, we thought it was the opportune time to take a look at it.

Dark Kabuto is a decently extensive repaint of the original Kamen Rider Kabuto figuart. Though the detailing on his chest and back isn’t quite as sharp as the new Seihou release. As with many other figuarts from this period he tends to be a bit off model, a little too lanky, and lacks a number of accessories. But on a budget, the original Dark Kabuto may fill the gap in your Kabuto collection.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this post but feel free to peruse the complete 40 images gallery after the jump. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Be sure to tune in next month during our annual Toku Toy Box giveaway to see our new S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Dark Kabuto gallery as well!

Moero Robocon DX Slotroid 01 Robocon Gallery

Posted on November 19, 2016 at 2:32 pm by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

“Ganbare Robocon!!”

It’s time for another overdue trip down memory lane! In the past we here at TokuNation have shown you some truly odd & interesting figures from Tokusatsu history. Kamen Rider, Metal Heroes, and even some one-off toku shows that are no more. Today we’re taking a look at a vintage piece from the classic 1999 series Moero Robocon with DX Slotroid 01 Robocon!

Moero Robocon is actually a reboot of the even older 1974 original series Ganbare Robocon. Technically, Moero Robocon even serves as the final entry in the long running Metal Hero series (more on that in the full review). But enough about the show, here’s the toy! DX Robocon was an innovative figure for it’s time. Robocon featured a built in electronic minigame that allowed him to physically interact with another figure in the line as well a special “super mode” transformation. This diminutive robot is definitely more fun that you’d initially think.

We’ve attached a selection of images to this article but you can view the full 40 images by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post.

S.H. Figuarts Ultraman 50th Anniversary Edition Gallery

Posted on November 14, 2016 at 8:36 pm by Den-O under TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights, Ultraman

For the first time ever the original giant hero makes his appearance in the S.H. Figuarts line! After years of steady Ultra-Act releases that line has now been retired with it’s characters having been folded into S.H. Figuarts beginning with this release, S.H. Figuarts Ultraman 50th Anniversary Edition!

Celebrating 50 years of the Ultraman franchise, which began in earnest in 1966, this new release seeks to improve upon past flaws and open a new chapter for Ultraman figures. And does it live up to it’s expectations? Well that depends on your point of view. This figure seeks to replicate almost perfectly the design of the Ultraman suit. It’s nature as a poseable toy sort of comes second. But it’s undeniably a well made figure that should include more than enough accessories to make up for any issues you might take with it’s design. Such as the famous Baltan Ship, or the Tamashii Action Option Building sets.

We’ve attached a small selection of images to this post, but you can see over 50 images in the full thread. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to see our full S.H. Figuarts Ultraman 50th Anniversary Edition gallery! We’ll be back
