Get ready fans of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers – the day you’ve been waiting for is just about here! On Wednesday, January 13th the first release of the brand new comic from BOOM! Studios, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #0, releases at a comic store near you! Giving you just a taste of what’s in store, the actual first issue will release in March 2016 as the on-going series officially kicks off!

As we reported last week, we were lucky enough to be given an early preview of Issue #0 – be sure to check out our full, SPOILER-filled review – and now we’ve been cleared to share out images from this first issue! In light of not ruining anything for those of you who do NOT want to be spoiled, we should note that our images here are a few panels … nothing full page. On top of that, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to white-out the text balloons so you can enjoy the artwork (we picked some of our favorites) without any spoilers being given.

It’s almost here! The very first issue of the new on-going Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic book, published by BOOM! Studios, releases on January 13th, 2016. We were fortunate enough to be given a special preview of this monumental first issue and have written up a review!

It’s the first day back at school for our heroes and more importantly it’s the first day back at school for the recently freed-from-mind-control Tommy, aka the Green Ranger. But as our green hero quickly learns, one can never just walk away from the Rita Repulsa without some serious side effects. Can Tommy overcome the visions he’s having and focus on saving the world? Or will his hangover from being the evil Green Ranger eventually doom him, his friends, and innocent civilians? The answer may surprise you…

Here we go! Today the casting sides for the upcoming Power Rangers 2017 Movie were released online. What is a casting side you ask? Well, it’s basically a bunch of lines for actors to read off or to get in to character while auditioning for the role of the character they’re trying out for. Casting sides are not always a guarantee – the casting sides for Power Rangers Megaforce were different than what we ended up with.

Now obviously – there’s potential major spoilers. Below is a screen shot of the casting side with the details blurred out. These casting sides potentially give us the first details on the story (how similar is it to the “leaked” story from a month or so ago?), as well as more details on some of the character bios that were leaked not too long ago (Kimberly being absent from school for six months is explained, as well as part of Billy’s reasoning for being such an introvert). With San Diego Comic Con 2015 right around the corner, tons of information is beginning to flow regarding all the various exclusives and future toy announcements. This one totally slipped under the radar – unless you’re a fan of The Loyal Subjects and their vinyl figures that they’ve been pumping out! This here is our first look at an upcoming ToyTokyo.com exclusive – a translucent Mighty Morphin Green Ranger vinyl figure from The Loyal Subjects!

Whether this is an exclusive at San Diego Comic Con 2015 with Toy Tokyo or an online exclusive is unknown to us at this exact moment – but the figure sure does look awesome in translucent green! Also pictured are the first in-package shots of the upcoming San Diego Comic Con 2015 exclusives from The Loyal Subjects – including the translucent Mighty Morphin Red Ranger, translucent Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger, and the metallic version of the Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger vs Rita Repulsa set!

Big news if you’re a collector of the awesome The Loyal Subjects vinyl figures! For those of you who have been paying attention – we’re getting a few of the translucent Mighty Morphin Power Rangers at this year’s San Diego Comic Con 2015. But many fans noticed it is incomplete – many team members are not going to be included in the translucent variety.

Well, The Loyal Subjects have you covered!

Coming soon to Hastings stores will be two exclusive packs of translucent Mighty Morphin Power Rangers vinyls! One set includes translucent versions of the Mighty Morphin Yellow Ranger, Mighty Morphin Black Ranger, and Mighty Morphin White Ranger. The other set contains translucent versions of Lord Zedd, Rita Repulsa, and Goldar! Dates and prices have yet to be announced but for those seeking a complete set – here you go!

Well we certainly do! And it would seem that Mattel does as well! The inaugural releases in the company’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Imaginext line have begun to hit retail in recent weeks and we’ve gotten our hands on one such set for gallery & review. Imaginext Goldar & Rita Repulsa!

This set takes the mighty Sorceress Rita Repulsa and shrinks her down while taking her most famous general and making that monster grow! Goldar is a simplistic but large and imposing toy. Featuring the pattented Imaginext Power Pad gimmick, Goldar can unleash his mighty wings or swing his sword! While Rita can mount behind Goldar’s head with her Magical Staff. 

While aimed at children (ages 3-8) this set will undoubtedly appeal to adult collectors and fans of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for it’s big play value. It’s that time of year once again for the comic & toy convention season to get under way! And getting the ball rolling on both fronts is the upcoming Lexington Comic & Toy Con, from March 13th-15th! What began in 2012 as a con that garnered over 1000 guests has flourished in the years since to it’s height now, attracting upwards of 20,000 guests from the around the midwest & southeast!

What’s even more impressive is how the guest list for this con has grown from featuring just a few of your favorite Power Rangers actors, to being one of the nations premiere selections of ranger actors! This year the convention staff have pulled out all the stops to offer the BIGGEST selection of Power Rangers, & Indeed Super Sentai actors, possible! Not to mention a few other fantastic bonuses for Ultraman fans! Check out the full guest list as it pertains to the tokusatsu fandom below, as maintained by our very own uchihabro77! 

Aside from this star studded guest list, LexCon is also an opportunity for fans to make real world connections. As I’ve done in years past I will of course be there repping for TokuNation.com & the Talkin Toku Podcast. But many other groups and personalities in the tokusatsu fandom will also be in attendance like trekkieb47 of Ranger Command Power Hour and RiderJetfire of Dans Toku Rants. If you’re going to be in attendance be sure to post in our Lexington Comic & Toy Con 2015 thread. We’re officially 1 week away from the 13th annual Free Comic Book Day 2014! Saturday May 3rd this year, will be a time for fans of comics new and old to go out to their Local Comic Chop and grab some free books, pick up some great deals, and have a good time!

Joining the fray of this event for the first time ever are the Might Morphin Power Rangers! Publisher Papercutz is bringing the original power team back in a new way with it’s special one-shot Free Comic Book Day Issue. The question is, on a day when you’re generally limited by how many free books you can pick up at your LCS, is this one deserving of a spot in the stack?

For the third year running, the Lexington Comic & Toy Convention returns to Kentucky! If you haven’t heard of the show by now it’s quickly become THE east coast convention for Power Rangers actors! As the one big show that Kentucky has each year LexCon draws in attendance from all over the region with last years numbers surpassing 10,000! This convention will run from Friday March 14th- Sunday March 16th at Heritage Hall, Rupp Arena Convention Center. If you can make it to the show trust me, it is worth your while.
