Let’s Watch Wednesdays Power Rangers In Space 16-18

Posted on December 17, 2014 at 5:34 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

Power Rangers In Space has set a new course on Let’s Watch Wednesdays here at TokuNation!

5 key cards that once belonged to Zordon have been discovered! In a bid to obtain them from Darkonda, Andros begins to learn what the evil creature has done to his sister. But not before Darkonda mutates thanks to the betrayal of Ecliptor, forcing the rangers to rocket back into space. Using Zordon’s keys the rangers will obtain the ultimate power they’ve been waiting for, the Mega Voyager!

Meanwhile old allies of the rangers are in trouble. Captive since the Turbo Rangers were defeated, Lightning Cruiser & Storm Blaster have been in the hands of Divatox’s forces! Fortunately Storm Blaster has escaped and made his way to the one ranger he could always count on, Justin the Blue Turbo Ranger! It’s time for the combined might of 6 rangers to stop Astronema’s monster and  rescue Lightning Cruiser!

Rocket Powered Reading #5

This weeks marks the second appearance of a past ranger on Power Rangers in Space following the Phantom Ranger’s return. True Blue To The Rescue, features the return of the Blue Turbo Ranger. Though the Turbo Ranger powers were destroyed at the end of their series, Storm Blaster had apparently saved an extra Turbo Morpher for Justin’s use. Justin was of course left on Earth when the older rangers went into space to find Zordon, and his successor as the Blue Ranger was his friend & former Red Turbo Ranger, TJ.

Though we won’t be seeing Justin again for the remainder of the show, this episode establishes his continuing connection to the Power Rangers and the Morphing Grid. Though Power Rangers Super Megaforce sadly did not fully realize or explore these types of loose ends for the franchises anniversary, it’s often been theorized by fans that Justin’s spare Turbo Morpher from this episode was the one used by TJ in Forever Red to gain access to his Red Turbo Ranger powers once more. It’s speculative, but always a fun possibility.

Let’s Watch Wednesdays Power Rangers In Space 13-15

Posted on December 10, 2014 at 9:28 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

The power rangers have returned for another week of Let’s Watch Wednesdays at TokuNation! On a darker adventure than they expected this week, the rangers encounter a new enemy…

On a distant planet searching for Zordon, an old foe of Ecliptor and a new one for the rangers appears, Darkonda! A double crossing bounty hunter, what are Darkonda’s motives for working with Astronema? And how exactly he knows the princess of evil, even she isn’t aware. But the bigger question remains, what secrets can Darkonda be hiding from his new allies and the rangers? What does he know of Ecliptor’s past? When and  how will he betray him? And what dose he know about Karone? All of these burning questions and more will begin to be answered this week on Power Rangers In Space!

Rocket Powered Reading #4
This week we take another look at what makes Power Rangers In Space a little more unique from it’s sentai counterpart Denji Sentai Megaranger. The first episode we’re vieing thisweek, #13 Grandma Matchmaker, is actually a bit more of a mashup than you might realize. The footage for this episode actually originates from Megaranger 28!

The crazy thing about this episode is that in Megaranger the central focus of this footage was Mega Silver AKA the upcoming Silver Space Ranger. The episode was edited and reshot with a decent amount of new US footage to re-incorporate Ashley into it as the original episode features Mega Yellow only briefly. The scenes with the Quadro Blaster and Mrs Hammond driving the police cruiser are notably some of the footage used to pad out this transition.

Let’s Watch Wednesdays Week 4 Power Rangers In Space 10-12

Posted on December 3, 2014 at 10:34 am by Den-O under Power Rangers

Let’s rocket into another week of Power Rangers In Space on Let’s Watch Wednesdays!

The Phantom Ranger has returned! On a quest to save Zordon from the clutches of Dark Specter, Phantom Ranger has encountered Divatox’s forces! Sending a distress message to the Space Rangers the Phantom has discovered Zordon’s location. Unable to rescue Zordon himself and badly injured, Phantom Ranger now holds the key to an even greater power for the rangers. The Delta Megaship! And the rangers have a couple other problems on their hands too! If it’s not Sting King & Waspicable, then it’s another of the Professor crazy inventions, the Evilyzer! Facing a horde of Astronema’s monsters it’s time to call on the power of the Astro Delta Megazord!

Rocket Powered Reading #4

This week sees the introduction of an incredible piece of Power Rangers history & technology as well. Brief though it was, Episode 10 of Power Rangers In Space “The Delta Discovery”, not only saw the rangers receive the power of the Delta Megazord, but also the device used to control it. The Battlizer!

Battlizer of course refers to the numerous devices used throughout the Power Rangers franchise which have allowed various rangers (mostly Reds) to access a Battlized mode. Though we’ll see exactly how important this item is specifically to In Space in later episodes it’s legacy is unforgettable. Often a term more associated with the specific power ups/armors certain rangers have received over the years, Battlizer in this case references the device worn by Andros. Though it would later allow him access to his own Battlized Mode as well.

Let’s Watch Wednesdays Week 3 Power Rangers In Space 7-9

Posted on November 19, 2014 at 10:08 am by Den-O under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

TokuNation’s weekly viewing segment returns with another installment of Power Rangers In Space!

After last weeks shell shocking crossover the rangers are back to fighting Astronema’s forces on their own. But as Andros tries to adjust to life as the other rangers have always known it, he’ll have an encounter or two with the unfamiliar concepts of greed & deceit. Meanwhile Bulk & Skull continue to get into high tech hijinks with the professor. Hijinks Astronema herself has taken an interest in, that can’t be good. And finally with Simudeck malfunctioning in an epic way Craterites have been unleashed on Angel Grove! It looks like these creepy creations intend to body snatch all the people in the city!

Rocket Powered Reading #3
Since they’ve been brought up this week let’s talk Craterites! These odd foes of the rangers are normally just simulations produced for training purposes, but this week sees a Simudeck malfunction bring them into reality en mass. However in the Denji Sentai Megaranger footage used to create the series these creatures, the Kunekune, were front and center as the primary footsoldiers of the Nezirejia Kingdom!

The Kunekune were deemed a bit too silly and generic to be used for the Power Rangers adaptation of Megaranger. So in much the same way the previous years villains from Carranger, the Wumpers, were dropped in favor of the Saban developed Piranhatons, the Kunekune were dropped in favor of the robotic Quantrons. Though the Kunekune made it into the show as Simudec foes nearly all footage aside from this pertaining to them was removed from In Space.

Let’s Watch Wednesdays Week 2 Power Rangers In Space 4-6

Posted on November 12, 2014 at 1:24 pm by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

On this weeks Let’s Watch Wednesdays with Power Rangers In Space it’s time for a little turtle power! The Power Rangers are about to meet the legendary Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Plucked from their battles against the Shredder & Dragon Lord, Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, & Venus have arrived! But are they here to help the Power Rangers, or destroy them?! Despite Astronema’s meddling it won’t take long before our 10 heroes stand side by side! And this week the mysteries of Andros will also begin to unfold. On a quest to find his missing sister Karone and the monster who kidnapped her, Andros returns to his deserted homeworld KO-35. But an encounter with his old foe Ecliptor will change his plans. Will the rangers get closer to their goal of saving Zordon? Will Andros discover the truth about his past? Find out today on Power Rangers In Space!

Rocket Powered Reading #2
Let’s take a look this week at one of the central villains of In Space, Dark Specter. As you may or may not have noticed by now Dark Specter bears a strong (100% identical) resemblance to another past foe of the rangers. Maligore from, Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. That’s because the Maligore costume was simply reused for Dark Specter, though Specter could speak and was quoted as being substantially more powerful. At least once within the show’s continuity this resemblance was remarked upon by Divatox, who herself almost wed Maligore in the Turbo movie.

Blatant costume reuse of this nature doesn’t happen quite that much these days but it’s fun to notice. Off and on over the years various re-releases of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie have even featured the Maligore/Dark Specter image in the background of the DVD cover as well. This is itself even more odd as the central villain of that film was Ivan Ooze.

Let’s Watch Wednesdays Week 1 Power Rangers In Space 1-3

Posted on November 5, 2014 at 11:59 am by Den-O under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

Let’s rocket! TokuNation users were asked which show they wanted to see next and they’ve answered! Power Rangers In Space is the next installment of Let’s Watch Wednesdays!

With the beginning of this series we need a little back story from the last one. Power Rangers Turbo saw our heroes take a number of loses in it’s finale. With the Command Center destroyed the Turbo Zords annihilated & the Turbo Ranger powers gone, and leaving Justin behind, TJ, Cassie, Ashley, Carlos, & Alpha rocket away from Earth in hopes of finding and rescuing Zordon…..

Now, the old enemies of the Power Rangers are gathering, a new Alliance of Evil is forming, all under the watch of Dark Specter and his evil protege Astronema. Bent on destroying Zordon there’s only one force standing in the way of this alliance, a new Red Ranger! And while our former rangers struggle to find their bearings they’ll cross paths with this new hero and form a fantastic new team, the Space Rangers! But before this fledgling team of rangers really gets off the ground they’ll have a run in with some heroes of an entirely different nature. the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Rocket Powered Reading #1

Bringing back out informational segment we begin this week with some background on this series. Power Rangers In Space was the final season in what would come to be known as the “Zordon Era”. The era in which the Power Rangers derived their guidance, powers, zords, and weaponry in one form or another from this legendary mentor and his direct associates. As you’ll find out when we approach the end of this series there’s a good reason why this season marks the end of that era.

Morphin’ Madness – Power Playback

Posted on March 28, 2014 at 12:44 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers, TokuNation, TokuNation Spotlights

History’s greatest Power Rangers continue to fight it out in round 3 of Morphin Madness! The ultimate tournament to decide which 5 Legendary Rangers will be made into a limited edition Ranger Key set by Bandai of America! But the message of Morphin Madness, what it’s really all about, appears to have been lost thanks to some unfortunate poking from two sides of the fandom.

At the end of the day this competition is for fun. It’s ultimate goal however is still the production of 5 Ranger Keys. As we know BOA will only be producing about 70 keys out of 100+ rangers they have to work with. This competition will allow fans to pick 5 rangers to be made into a special limited edition Ranger Key set. Keys that simply wouldn’t exist without fan support in an event like this. The competition has been fierce and heated, but fans have stuck with it to vote for their favorite rangers and the ones they find most in need of the Ranger Key treatment. Today TokuNation would like to take a moment to honor 5 of Round 3’s rangers in a little segment we’re calling Power Playback!

Power Playback is a community viewing event that consists of 1 episode each, from 5 different classic Power Rangers seasons! Designed to give people a chance to experience some of these rangers for the first time or relive them all over again, Power Playback also gets your foot in the door on 5 classic Power Rangers series; Zeo, Mystic Force, Turbo, Lightspeed Rescue, & In Space! Each of these episodes is the 1st appearance of a Legendary Power Ranger featured in the current round of Morphin Madness!

Power Rangers Zeo “The Power Of Gold” – The first appearance of the Gold Ranger!

Power Rangers Turbo “Phantom Phenomenon” – The first appearance of the Phantom Ranger!

Power Rangers In Space “From Out Of Nowhere Part 1” – The first appearance of the In Space Red Ranger!

Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue “From Deep In The Shadows” – The first appearance of the Titanium Ranger!

Power Rangers Mystic Force “Broken Spell” – The first appearance of the Mystic Force White Ranger!

Check out these episodes, which are currently available on such streaming sites as Netflix, and give us your thoughts in this thread. Simply click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to be taken to a full rundown of each episode, along with the further exploits of each of these 5 rangers. Spoilers abound on the next page so read on with care. And be sure to head over to our massive ongoing Morphin Madness Thread to share your thoughts on the brackets and how things are playing out!

Rumor – Christopher Khayman Lee, Andros of In Space, to Cameo in Super Megaforce?

Posted on April 30, 2013 at 12:14 am by Chris under Power Rangers

Okay, I admit to this one being a stretch, but the picture makes you think. We know from our friends via RangerCrew.com that the casting department of Power Rangers has reached out to a number of veteran actors and actresses from the “Saban-era” of Power Rangers (Mighty Morphin, Zeo, Turbo, In Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force, Wild Force). We know that Blake Foster, who played Justin Stewart the Blue Ranger in Power Rangers Turbo was getting in shape for something, then flew off to New Zealand.

So here’s a picture of Christopher Khaymen Lee. You know him best as Andros, the Red Ranger in Power Rangers In Space. So what’s the big deal? Well, Lee is one of the more recluse former Ranger actors, and only recently was on an episode of the No Pink Spandex Power Rangers podcast. He wasn’t forthcoming on whether or not he had been contacted for Super Megaforce, but seemed open to coming back for an episode or two.

So then this picture shows up. Christopher Khaymen Lee holding a In Space Red Ranger card, and seemingly in very fit shape. Oh, and with long hair to boot. Does this mean he’s hinting that he’s coming back? Do you want to see Andros make a return in Power Rangers Super Megaforce?

Post your thoughts!

The 10th Anniversary of Power Rangers 10th Anniversary – Forever Red

Posted on May 27, 2012 at 11:09 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

On May 24th, 2002, famed Power Rangers scribe Amit Bhaumik finished his final draft of an episode of Power Rangers Wild Force that was meant to serve as a celebration/anniversary episode for 10 years of Power Rangers. Those of you who follow and are fans of Power Rangers will know that episode forever as Forever Red, probably the greatest “fanboy” moment in all of Power Rangers nearly 20 year history.

The story was total fan-service – remnants of the evil Machine Empire (Power Rangers Zeo) had regrouped on the surface of the moon to dig up Lord Zedd’s personal zord, Serpentera (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers). In a mission deemed top secret, veteran Power Ranger and team leader Tommy Oliver (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, Power Rangers Zeo, Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, Power Rangers Turbo, Power Rangers Dino Thunder) gathered together all the Red Rangers of the past (minus Rocky) to team up and destroy the remnants of the Machine Empire as well as Serpentera.

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Power Rangers 10th Anniversary, Amit Bhaumik has updated his personal blog with some details regarding the early days of drafting Forever Red, including new photos and scans of some of the original drafts/ideas/etc.

Click here to check out the Forever Red blog!

Share your favorite memories of Forever Red in our discussion thread attached via this story. Is Forever Red the best Power Rangers team up? Or was Once a Ranger a better team-up? Maybe you just prefer the team-ups mid season between two teams like “Reinforcements from the Future”. Join in the discussion!
