S.H. Figuarts Ultraman Suit Ver 7 (The Animation) Gallery

Posted on January 19, 2020 at 3:17 pm by Den-O under TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights, Ultraman

“Actually. I’m Ultraman.”

In a world where the giant of light Ultraman, left Earth years ago, the SSSP has found a new way to defend their world. Relying on individuals who possess the Ultraman Factor, and equipping them with suits of armor, the heroes of Earth fight back Kaiju! But in the case of Dan Moroboshi, he has no Ultraman Factor. Lucky for him, SSSP has developed a next generation Ultraman suit specifically for those who don’t possess these abilities. The Ultraman Suit Ver. 7 not bestows non-powered individuals with the ability to fight Kaiju, but it can be upgraded after repeated combat. Evolving and adapting to any situation, the Seven Suit is a force to be reckoned with!

The Ultraman Suit Ver 7 is a gorgeous entry in Tamashii Nations Ultraman line of S.H. Figuarts. Recreating the Seven Suit as it appears in the Netflix ULTRAMAN anime, this figure implements some dynamic and interesting new choices for articulation we don’t often see. That being said, it makes for a figure with tons of expressive personality. Armed with his Throwing Knife & Specium Sword and a sweeping fiery effect part for it, Dan Moroboshi is ready to defend the Earth!

Check out our full 60+ image gallery of the Seven Suit after the jump! Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to see the full gallery & review. Next time we visit a hero of the Showa era with Ultraman Taro!

Mill Creek Entertainment is hyping up their Blu-Ray releases for both Ultra Q & Ultraman with some new preview pics! Posted up over on their twitter, are our first in hand looks at the Steelbook packaging for each series. Each series set in the Mill Creek collection will be numbered in order, making each new series a gorgeous addition to any toku collectors’ library of titles, and in my personal collection a nice uniform set of spines on a shelf! With the promise of many more series to come, like the recently announced Orb & Geed, these first two sets are bound to be big sellers with fans.

Both the Ultra Q & Ultraman Steelbook Blu-Ray sets will be released on October 15th. Currently, you can pre-order either set for the incredibly low price of $27.99 on Amazon.

S.H. Figuarts Bemular The Animation Version Revealed

Posted on August 25, 2019 at 12:19 pm by Den-O under Ultraman

Hot on the heels of the release of the Ultraman Suit, Tamashii Nations has just revealed (via the Ultraman Manga/Anime Twitter) their next entry in the Ultraman anime line of S.H. Figuarts. Once again, it’s a bit of a do-over, but one that should please collectors.

Bemular (The Animation) takes the original Manga Bemular S.H. Figuarts X Ultra-Act release, and re-works it into a newly improved design more in line with the Netflix anime’s design style. A side by side comparison of the two figures attached here shows just how different the new animation release really is.

Tamashii has confirmed that Bemular will be released as a Tamashii Web Exclusive, though at this time release date and price have yet to be announced. We’ll update this story when that information becomes available.

Mill Creek Entertainment Acquires Ultraman Library for Physical/Digital Releases

Posted on July 10, 2019 at 2:48 pm by Den-O under Ultraman

Happy Ultraman Day indeed! As revealed exclusively by SciFi Japan, Mill Creek Entertainment (in conjunction with Indigo Entertainment) has just struck a tremendous deal with Tsuburaya Productions. Mill Creek has just acquired the *entire* Ultraman library of series and films ranging from 1966’s Ultra Q all the way through to today for both physical home media & digital releases!

This announcement means that nearly every single production released as a part of the Ultra Series in the last 50+ years (over 1100 episodes and 20 movies) has the potential for both physical Blu-Ray releases as well as digital streaming options. To kick off this acquisition, Mill Creek has also officially revealed it’s first two home media releases, Ultra Q and Ultraman!

Both Ultra Q & Ultraman will be released in Limited Edition Steelbook Blu-Ray series sets on October 15th for $49.98 each. Standard Packaging releases of each series will be made available on the same day for $39.98 as well. Each set will also include Digital redemption codes through Mill Creek’s Moviespree streaming service! Both series have been remastered in high definition with DTS-HD Masters of the original Japanese audio, with a fresh set of English subtitles. You can pre-order each set at the following links.:

Ultra Q Complete Series Limited Steelbook Blu-Ray – $49.98
Ultra Q Complete Series Standard Blu-Ray – $39.98
Ultraman Complete Series Limited Edition Steelbook Blu-Ray $49.98
Ultraman Complete Series Standard Blu-Ray $39.98

This is a pretty huge announcement on a day that was already a true celebration of the franchise itself. The door is now wide open for the heroes that came after the original Ultraman to finally be available to English speaking audiences on Blu-Ray & digital streaming widely. We eagerly await Mill Creek’s next announcement!

Multi-Platform Reboot of the Ultraman Brand Coming to US & International Markets

Posted on December 11, 2018 at 2:36 pm by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, Ultraman

In an exclusive being reported by THR, Tsuburaya has just tapped Jeff Gomez and his Starlight Runner Entertainment along with LA based The Licensing Group to rebrand and reboot the Ultraman franchise across multiple platforms for markets outside Japan. This is massive news for a number of reasons, but THR has a great exclusive breakdown of what this all means as well.

U.S. transmedia producer Starlight Runner Entertainment has been tapped by Tokyo-based Tsuburaya Productions to build out the Ultraman mythology for the digital age outside of Japan, to include a possible live action streaming TV series. The original live action Ultra Q and Ultramanseries that launched in 1966 featured a high-tech police force and their silver superhero Ultraman battling to save the Earth from invading aliens and giant monsters.

Dozens of sequel TV series, movies, video games and other spinoff content followed, including recent movies like Ultraman X the Movie in 2016, Ultraman Orb the Movie last year and Ultraman Geed the Movie in 2018, the 29th installment of the franchise.

As Tsuburaya looks to restore Ultraman’s profile outside Japan, Starlight Runner will team with The Licensing Group to reboot the superhero property across multiple platforms, with story-driven licensing and merchandising programs for the U.S. and international markets.

The Ultraman licensing program will be supported by new content distributed on cable, streaming and SVOD platforms. “Ultraman is one of my greatest childhood heroes. We’re honored to be embarking on this mission to bring this family of characters back to the world stage,” Starlight Runner CEO Jeff Gomez said in a statement.

So, how exciting is this? Seeing one of the oldest and most beloved Tokusatsu franchises in the world, stepping into the modern day in an entirely new fashion. SHare your thoughts on the subject by visiting our discussion thread on the topic, just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post.

First Look At New Ultraman 2018!

Posted on March 26, 2018 at 1:43 pm by Kiryu under Ultraman

A new challenger has arrived!

Tsuburaya Productions’ begun to tease the next Ultraman series following Ultraman Geed, and while our new hero currently remains nameless we have our first silhouetted look at this new hero thanks to a magazine that have been making the rounds online.

No name for this Ultraman has been confirmed as of yet, but three names have been trademarked: Ultraman Lube, Ultraman Rosso, and Ultraman Bull.  Ultraman Bright has also been thrown around, it’s also possible that Tsuburaya could be going with three main Ultramen for the next show, but nothing has been 100% confirmed as of this writing.

Stay tuned, and we’ll bring you more info as it breaks.

ULTRAMAN Manga to Receive Anime Adaptation in 2019

Posted on November 30, 2017 at 10:46 am by Den-O under Conventions, Other Conventions, Ultraman

After a rousing success in international print sales, numerous S.H.Figuarts, high end 1/6 scale figures, statues, busts, & other collectibles, the last barrier left to conquer for Eeichi Shimizu’s ULTRAMAN manga is of course, for it to be adapted to anime!

Headed our way in 2019 will be a full anime adaptation of the long running ULTRAMAN manga! A countdown had been ticking down on the series official website, without much further information until now. As more information about this series is revealed, such as the animation staff and voice cast, we’ll be sure to keep you up to date. If you’re unfamiliar with the ULTRAMAN Manga, here’s a handy summary of the plot from the series US publisher Viz:

Decades ago, a being known as the Giant of Light joined Shin Hayata of the Scientific Special Search Party to save Earth from an invasion of terrifying monsters known as Kaiju. Now, many years later, those dark days are fading into memory, and the world is at peace. But in the shadows a new threat is growing, a danger that can only be faced by a new kind of hero – a new kind of Ultraman…

Shinjiro is an ordinary teenager, but his father is the legendary Shin Hayata. When he learns that his father passed on the “Ultraman Factor” to him, and that he possesses incredible powers, nothing will ever be the same again.
