The official Power Rangers Movie Instagram is at it again! The third reveal for Saban & Lionsgates’ upcoming 2017 Power Rangers Movie is here & Ludi Lin has been cast as the Black Ranger!

A quick look at Ludi Lin’s previous acting credits shows him to be a relative new comer with a host of minor roles in hte last few years. Teased and revealed on the official Power Rangers Movie Instagram is the identity of the actress who will be portraying the Pink Ranger in Saban & Lionsgate’s 2017 Power Rangers Movie!

Without further adieu Naomi Scott has been revealed to play the Pink Ranger! Her most recent acting credit is for a role in the Matt Damon film The Martian. Though she’s been active since 2009 in television, and arguably is best known for her role in the TV Series Terra Nova.

Here we go! Today the casting sides for the upcoming Power Rangers 2017 Movie were released online. What is a casting side you ask? Well, it’s basically a bunch of lines for actors to read off or to get in to character while auditioning for the role of the character they’re trying out for. Casting sides are not always a guarantee – the casting sides for Power Rangers Megaforce were different than what we ended up with.

Now obviously – there’s potential major spoilers. Below is a screen shot of the casting side with the details blurred out. These casting sides potentially give us the first details on the story (how similar is it to the “leaked” story from a month or so ago?), as well as more details on some of the character bios that were leaked not too long ago (Kimberly being absent from school for six months is explained, as well as part of Billy’s reasoning for being such an introvert). The epic conclusion to Power Rangers Super Megaforce, the Legendary Battle, is scheduled to release on DVD on August 11th, 2015. This DVD will be the “extended version” edition, which is being labeled as an “Extended Edition Movie”, meaning it will most likely be the version that aired on Nick Toons last year. The “movie” also proclaims to have special feature titled “Power Rangers: A Legacy”, which features fan-favorite interviews with cast and crew while taking a look behind the scenes with the beloved franchise.

With a suggested retail of $14.98, Legendary Battle is set to release on August 11th, 2015. Special thanks to @LinearRanger on Twitter for the news!

We’ve been wondering for months when more updates on the production of the Power Rangers 2016 film reboot would be made public. Earlier in April some news finally trickled out with the reveal of director Dean Israelite helming the project. However today seems to bring more of a set back.

Thanks once again to The Wrap we have details about Lionsgate’s upcoming slate of films & their release dates. As of today we know that the Power Rangers 2016 Film originally slated for a July 22, 2016 release has officially been delayed to January 13, 2017. The change was seemingly made to move the film from a crowded summer 2016 filled with other top box office films.

After what seems like a rather long time without any updates for the forthcoming 2016 Power Rangers film reboot, some new information has finally surfaced!

According to The Wrap, Saban Brands & Lionsgate Entertainment are currently eyeing and in fact are in negotiations with director Dean Israelite to helm the film! Israelite’s most recent project, likely his most recognizable to the public, is the time travel “found footage” thriller The Almanac Project.

The Power Rangers film project has lost its Executive Producer.

Screen veteran Roberto Orci has reportedly backed out of the project, choosing instead to devote full attention to Star Trek 3.

Power Rangers is still set to return to theaters on July 22 2016 with a screenplay by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. Stay tuned to TokuNation until then as we keep you up to date on any & all production news!
