Kishiryu Sentai Ryuusouger: New Clear Images Released

Posted on December 12, 2018 at 11:46 am by Kiryu under Super Sentai

For those of us that are just tuning in and missed the big announcement: Kishiryu Sentai Ryusouger was announced  as the 43rd Super Sentai series proceeding the currently airing Kaitou Sentai LupinRanger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger. Clearer versions of the initial toy catalog scans have been trickling out since then, and thanks to some new pages that have been uncovered we have some new details regarding this forthcoming series.

It’s been rumored for quite some time now that Super Sentai will be going on a bit of a break in February, that rumored break is now confirmed via these new scans. Kishiryu Sentai Ryusouger won’t be airing till March until then Toei will be releasing historical Super Sentai videos throughout February on YouTube. Rumour has it that Captain Marvelous/Ryota Ozawa of Gokaiger will be hosting hese videos, though nothing official has been confirmed regarding these videos, so please do take this with a grain of salt.

In addition to that, clearer scans of both the roleplay toys and mecha were also released. The scan shows us a glimpse at how Ryusouger will transform and it seems like the team will perform some sort of dance before initiating the change, an element very reminiscent of Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger.

There’s still a lot we don’t know about the new Sentai on the block, so stay tuned and we’ll keep you up to date as new info becomes available. In the meantime, make sure to hit the jump and join us in the discussion thread.

Toku Toy Box: S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider W Luna/Trigger Gallery

Posted on December 11, 2018 at 7:59 pm by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Luna/Trigger!”

Toku Toy Box continues on and it’s time we return to a windy city called Fuuto, to revisit everyone’s favorite half-boild detective! When Shotaro Hidari & Philip combine their minds they become one as Kamen Rider W! But when the situation calls for something else, new Gaia Memories give W the edge he (they?) needs to take on the Museum’s Dopants. Using the Luna & Trigger Memories, Kamen Rider W Luna/Trigger is formed!

The Shinkocchou Seihou line up of premium S.H. Figuarts renewals has been giving fans the long awaited do-overs they’ve requested for over 4 years now. Kamen Rider W Cyclone/Joker was perhaps one of the best figures to come out of this renewed line, though many many good figure’s have since as well. But that mold has proven to be near perfect in any of the various ways it’s been released. Luna/Trigger is just yet another amazing use of the Seihou W mold. If you know anything about this body type at all, you know you’re going to love this figure as well.

We’ve attached the full 60+ image gallery of S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider W Luna/Trigger to this post. You can also check out our full review thread of the figure by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Next time Toku Toy Box gets *HOT* with a magical gallery from Kamen Rider Wizard!

Multi-Platform Reboot of the Ultraman Brand Coming to US & International Markets

Posted on December 11, 2018 at 2:36 pm by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, Ultraman

In an exclusive being reported by THR, Tsuburaya has just tapped Jeff Gomez and his Starlight Runner Entertainment along with LA based The Licensing Group to rebrand and reboot the Ultraman franchise across multiple platforms for markets outside Japan. This is massive news for a number of reasons, but THR has a great exclusive breakdown of what this all means as well.

U.S. transmedia producer Starlight Runner Entertainment has been tapped by Tokyo-based Tsuburaya Productions to build out the Ultraman mythology for the digital age outside of Japan, to include a possible live action streaming TV series. The original live action Ultra Q and Ultramanseries that launched in 1966 featured a high-tech police force and their silver superhero Ultraman battling to save the Earth from invading aliens and giant monsters.

Dozens of sequel TV series, movies, video games and other spinoff content followed, including recent movies like Ultraman X the Movie in 2016, Ultraman Orb the Movie last year and Ultraman Geed the Movie in 2018, the 29th installment of the franchise.

As Tsuburaya looks to restore Ultraman’s profile outside Japan, Starlight Runner will team with The Licensing Group to reboot the superhero property across multiple platforms, with story-driven licensing and merchandising programs for the U.S. and international markets.

The Ultraman licensing program will be supported by new content distributed on cable, streaming and SVOD platforms. “Ultraman is one of my greatest childhood heroes. We’re honored to be embarking on this mission to bring this family of characters back to the world stage,” Starlight Runner CEO Jeff Gomez said in a statement.

So, how exciting is this? Seeing one of the oldest and most beloved Tokusatsu franchises in the world, stepping into the modern day in an entirely new fashion. SHare your thoughts on the subject by visiting our discussion thread on the topic, just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post.

Goodsmile Updates on Figma Gridman & Teaser for Figma Grid Knight

Posted on December 9, 2018 at 10:39 am by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, Ultraman

It’s best if you’ve seen episode 10 of SSSS.Gridman before reading this post, or you may spoil yourself on it.

Goodsmile has been showing off some updates recently on their upcoming Figma Gridman, a totally separate release from their 2019 releasing DX Gridman Assist Weapon set. Figma Gridman looks to be a bit more of stylized take on the character as a single action figure, is a bit larger than the one from the DX set, and doesn’t appear to be compatible with that. It’s still a gorgeous figure, but now it looks like a new companion piece is coming to go with it.

Making his debut in episode 10, Grid Knight is yet another new imagining of previously unused elements from the Gridman franchise. Twitter user @Mach_Dent has by far been proving to be one of the best resources for breaking down references and homages in SSSS.Gridman since it began. And this week he gives a fantastic breakdown of the elements that have led to Grid Knight’s origin. The Figma Grid Knight prototype is still hidden in shadow, very likely to conceal some of the more obvious spoilers about the character, but we can expect more updates soon.

It’s pretty wild that SSSS.Gridman now has 4 individual Figma’s in development with Akane, Rikka, Gridman, and Grid Knight simultaneously being teased out. Could these recent developments bode well for any more of the cast like Yuta, Anti, or Alexis? Let’s hope!

Toku Toy Box: S.H. Figuarts Crow Amazon Gallery

Posted on December 8, 2018 at 11:18 am by Den-O under Contests and Giveaways, Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

Try not to let the fantastic news about Kishiryu Sentai Ryusouger take your thoughts too far from our annual holiday giveaway. Toku Toy Box is headed back to the Armour Zone today with a ferocious new gallery of S.H. Figuarts Crow Amazon!

Given special permission to create a new Sigma Type, the 4C organization salvaged the remains of Iyu Hoshino, after her father’s deadly Amazon rampage. A weapon capable of defeating other Amazons, the only one other Sigma ever created was Jun Maehara AKA Kamen Rider Amazon Sigma. With Iyu’s rebirth, she gained strength and abilities far beyond most Amazons. While not a particularly extraordinary figure, Figuarts Crow feature’s some truly gorgeous sculpted details. Certainly more versatile than she first appears, Crow Amazon is a wonderful companion to Amazon Neo, or in fact any growing Amazons collection.

We’ve attached the full 40+ image gallery to this post but you can also read our full review by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Next time, we head to the windy city of Fuuto once again! And if you need a refresher on the rules of Toku Toy Box then give them a quick read.
