“Looks like we’re in the same boat!”

800 years ago the King, the first OOO, oversaw the creation of the Greeed. Given life by the Core Medals these creatures filled with immense craving, were unable to fill the voids of their beings. The Greeeds sought to consume the world of man to sate their sense of craving, but before they could they were sealed away by OOO. In the present, Eiji Hino was minding his own business when the seal on the Greeed was broken by Ankh, releasing them once more. Forever craving to be whole, only the power of the King can stop them. Intending to find a human pawn, Ankh stumbles upon Eiji and a bond is made. Handing the Driver of the king and the Core Medals over, Ankh allows Eiji to become Kamen Rider OOO! Beginning as a begrudging alliance, one of the greatest friendships in Kamen Rider history is born. Anything goes it’s coming up OOO!

Shinkocchou Seihou OOO came out at the tail end of 2019 but we’re just getting around to this figure for 2020, and I couldn’t be happier. For years the original line of OOO figuarts have irked me with their various issues, but now we have a fresh start and what a glorious one it is. A gorgeous figure that looks as though it walked right off screen, armed with the Medaljalibur, capable of combo changing with other Seihou OOO releases, and posing with the best of the best, OOO is a very welcome addition to my collection. For those of us that are just tuning in, Toei announced a new global streaming platform on YouTube titled Toei Tokusatsu World Official, a streaming service that would feature a treasure trove of classic Toku shows that will launch globally on April 6th, 2020, complete with English subtitles!

As of this writing, the channel is now live. The catch is that while Toei does plan on releasing more episodes, these episodes will only be in Japanese and Toei will be leaving it to fans to translate these episodes in their native language. None of the less, the long list of shows now available is as follows:

“Even if I’m weak on my own, I must defeat you!”

The evil organization MU wants to rewrite the world! Filling their ranks with revived brainwashed villains of Kamen Rider’s past, their army grows each time they force Professor Crystal Peppler to perform this task. Subvertong their goals, Professor Peppler has revived the weakest looking Kaijin he could think of, Brain, the Roidmude! But secretly, he knows one thing, how much Brain despises people like those in MU. Those his master Heart would hate most. Mirroring the rebirth of Takeshi Hongo as the first Kamen Rider, Brain the Roidmude must become Brain the Kamen Rider!

It’s been a wild ride for the characters of Kamen Rider Drive eh? Nearly 5 years after the end of the series and one of it’s villains has been redeemed as his own hero in a 2 part mini series, and even gotten to make a cameo in the Zi-O film Over Quartzer! Even more surprising, Kamen Rider Brain has gotten the S.H. Figuarts treatment! A luxurious repaint & remold of the Drive Type Speed mold, Brain manages to elevate the mold to a new level. Draped in new techy detailing and capes to boot, Brain comes armed with a weapon borrowed from Kamen Rider Ghost, the Brain Eyeglass Blade!

Officially announced by the Tsuburaya Ultraman Global Portal on twitter, we now have a face to go with the name, Ultraman Z! Along with the reveal of Ultraman Z’s (pronounced as Zett) design we also have a synopsis of his story, and you could probably guess it with that name, he’s a disciple of Ultraman Zero!

The newest Ultra Hero is Ultraman Zett, the disciple of Ultraman Zero, who is now celebrating his tenth anniversary! An admirer of Zero, Zett worked hard to become a member of the “Inter Galactic Defense Force.” With a passion inherited from his teacher Zero, Zett is an Ultraman who always looks forward and forges ahead.

In this series, our protagonist who transforms into Ultraman Zett is Haruki Natsukawa (played by Kohshu Hirano), a member of the anti-monster robot force “STORAGE”. The twenty-fourth* Ultraman TV series Ultraman Z features a story in which Zett and Haruki will grow together. Please look forward to this latest series!

Tsuburaya has even more information on the Ultraman Z series including a break down of the cast, head over to their official site, and get ready for the next generation hero to make his debut! The new series debuted June 20th, 2020!

Kamen Rider Evol is an absolutely delicious release. I was in love with this suit design when it debuted in show, and I adore it in figure form. Evol’s standard Phase 1 Cobra Form is by far the most stylish but it’s certainly tough to beat the other two forms as well. Forgoing much in the way of standard accessories other than hands, Evol instead includes all the extra parts needed to recreate his Phase 2 & Phase 3 forms, Dragon & Rabbit! A genius way to release all 3 forms at once, Tamashii Nations have outdone themselves with this delightfully wonderful villain.

Because two announcements of new Toei Spider-Man product isn’t enough for one day – here’s a third!

Figsoku.net has posted up preview images of an upcoming Super Minipla Leopardon.  For those uneducated on what Leopardon was – it was the mecha that accompanied the Toei Spider-Man character and has become quite a cult classic favorite.  A drawing was even seen in the background of the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse animated feature from 2019 and the Toei Spider-Man is heavily rumored to appear in the sequel to the film.

The people at Shout! Factory have teamed up with the minds at Pluto TV to create an exclusive new streaming channel for tokusatsu projects!

Titled TokoSHOUTsu this new platform will allow a variety of shows to viewers- including the legendary 1971 Kamen Rider series available for the first time in the US!

In addition, TokuSHOUTsu will produce ORIGINAL content- including a weekly series known as Let’s Talk Toku hosted by Squall Charlson that will feature Power Rangers alumni Jason Narvey in a guest spot for some episodes.

TokuSHOUTsu officially launches at 12AM Tuesday March 17 2020 and will be available on Channel 681 via Pluto TV- which can be accessed from a variety of streaming devices including Roku, Amazon Fire & Apple TV.

Having lost one team of Power Rangers already, the defense of Earth falls to the SPD B-Squad! Compiled of 3 new recruits and 2 kids off the street, the odds are stacked against them. But under the leadership of the reluctant Jack Landors, Earth may just stand a chance!

The SPD Red Ranger is our inaugural gallery from Power Rangers Lightning Collection Wave 4. A recently released wave both at retail and online, it’s off to a strong start with Jack here. While this base mold here is something we’ve seen a number of times with some parts differentiation, it’s undeniable how stylish the SPD/Dekaranger suit design is and just well it translates to figure form. Equipped with twin combining SPD Blasters, blaster effect a Delta Morpher, two more hands, and a Jack Landors unmasked head, this figure will fit right into to any ranger/sentai collection as the best of both worlds.

Surprise!

The 98 episode series run of the original Kamen Rider series (1971-1973) is available to stream, for free, with English subtitles on the streaming service tubitv by Shout! Factory TV.

It would appear that the rumors may hold some merit that Shout! Factory has acquired some sort of license for Kamen Rider in the United States what with their logo on the graphic.  Obviously, we await more details.  Stay tuned!

UPDATE  5pm EST 03/11/2020 – The episodes are no longer available on tubitv.  While the category still exists, the actual episodes are not available to stream.  There was online chatter from some folks last night that this listing was put up early – so stay tuned for potential updates or announcements in the future.

UPDATE 5:05pm EST 03/11/2020 – TubiTV has stated the series will be available on March 17th.

Gone but not forgotten, Trakeena has resurrected these maniacal monsters intent on destroying her own team of pesky Power Rangers. Leo Corbett and the rest of the Lost Galaxy Rangers have never faced a threat like this before. But with the help of another team of Power Rangers, 10 become 1, united to stop the forces of evil!

This two-pack represents one of my favorite team-ups in franchise history, To the 10th Power. Leo, the Lost Galaxy Red Ranger is the second hero hailing from that series after Magna Defender. While Psycho Red revisits the wonderful Psycho Ranger mold we first experienced with his brother Psycho Blue. Thematically, I adore this pack. Psycho Red is a clear winner based on my experience with Blue and armed with the Psycho Sword he’s more than a match for Lost Galaxy Red, who not only has two versions of the Quasar Saber and a flaming effect to accent it, but also an unmasked Leo Corbett head! I’m a little late to review this set, but it’s been a very pleasing experience. Bring on more Lost Galaxy & In Space please Hasbro!
