Names Revealed for Beast Bots in Power Rangers Beast Morphers Calendar

Posted on August 8, 2018 at 2:55 pm by Den-O under Power Rangers

As we get closer and closer to the 2019 premiere of Power Rangers Beast Morphers, our first hint of merchandise for the show has also been revealed. Thanks to a listing that’s gone up on Calendars.com we have our first look at officially licensed artwork for the Beast Morphers 2019 Calendar!

Though the images are a bit small, they give us our first real look at the series is being marketed. The biggest deal about this calendar though is that it confirms the names of the three Beast Bots! These Bots are of course the Power Rangers equivalents of the Buddyroids from Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, the series Beast Morphers is adapted from:

  • The Red Ranger’s partner is Cruise the jaguar (Cheeda Nick in Go-Busters)
  • The Blue Ranger’s partner is Smash the gorilla (Gorisaki Banana in Go-Busters)
  • The Yellow Ranger’s partner is Jax the Rabbit (Usada Lettuce in Go-Busters)

This listing was originally discovered by @Chaotix12345 on twitter. As the year progresses we expect to get more reveals of merchandise like this with licensed artwork for the show. If you come across any such links/items/etc, drop us a line!

SDCC 2018 Exclusive Legacy Psycho Green Ranger Gallery

Posted on August 3, 2018 at 4:32 pm by Den-O under Conventions, Power Rangers, San Diego Comic Con

“You should have told Zordon, no.”

Dispatched to Earth’s moon on a mission to free Rita Repulsa by the mighty Dark Spector, was the original Psycho Ranger. When the NASA moon landing inadvertently woke this slumbering villain in 1969, Alpha 5 & Zordon had no choice but to assemble a team, the original Power Rangers!  Inexperienced, isolated, caught off guard, the Power Rangers would have to contend with, Psycho Green!

Released as an SDCC 2018 Exclusive, the Legacy Psycho Green Ranger is (simultaneously with Psycho Silver) the first release of this mold in North America. Though the Psycho Red & Blue Rangers have turned up internationally, Green & Silver mark the domestic debut for this new mold. If you have experience with the Legacy 6.5″ line at all, then you know exactly what you’re in for here. Throw in the premium-style con packaging and Psycho Green’s signature Psycho Dagger, and you get a solid release and introduction of what to expect from his mold mates. I’ve done my best to recreate some panels from Green’s debut issue so I hope that comes across. Enjoy!

We’ve attached the full 80 image gallery to this post but you can also read our full review by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Next time we take a look at the simultaneously released Legacy Psycho Silver Ranger!

S.H. Figuarts Heisei Riders Rising Project Announced

Posted on August 3, 2018 at 11:21 am by Den-O under Kamen Rider

With Kamen Rider Zi-O heralding the end of the Heisei Era for Kamen Rider, and in commemoration of the 20th Heisei Rider himself, Tamashii Nations has announced the S.H. Figuarts Heisei Riders Rising Project!

The Rising Project announcement promises the reveal of 3 new Heisei Rider figuarts in the near future. The first of these 3 riders will be revealed on August 24th. Currently speculation is running wild as to what these 3 figures will actually be. Will this be Kiva’s time? There’s Zi-O which begins airing next month  as well, so now would be an ideal time to reveal his first figuart. Then there’s the possibility that 1 or more of these figures could be a Shinkocchou Seihou renewal of an out of date release like OOO, Fourze, or even Faiz.

Exactly who these 3 Heisei Riders are, is something we’ll be watching closely in the coming weeks. So we’ll be sure to keep the community up to date!

S.H. Figuarts Machine Builder & Parts Set Gallery

Posted on July 31, 2018 at 9:38 am by Den-O under Kamen Rider, TokuNation, TokuNation Site Updates, TokuNation Spotlights

“Build Change!”

Kamen Rider Build is swiftly approaching it’s conclusion. After next week’s break we only have 2 episodes left to go. So it’s time to take a look at something that hasn’t made an appearance on the show for quite a while. The S.H. Figuarts Machine Builder is not only Sento’s Rider Machine but also his personal cell phone!

While we’ve certainly seen the Machine Builder capable of assuming both modes in DX toy form, the best way to get both out of this vehicle is in fact, to split them up. The Figuart opts for being a full bike for Kamen Rider Build to ride, while including it’s Build Phone mode as an entirely separate accessory. Which speaking of accessories, this set also includes a number of additional hands as well as Build Rabbit/Tank Form’s signature weapon, the Drill Crusher, in both of it’s modes. There’s a lot to love about this release if you’re looking for the complete setup for Rabbit/Tank.

You can check out the full 40 image gallery of this set by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Next time we’re back with the first of a trio of SDCC 2018 Exclusive galleries!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Cross-Z Gallery

Posted on July 27, 2018 at 4:08 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider

“Wake Up! Cross-Z Dragon!”

Ryuga Banjou has been through the ringer the last few years. A former boxer, Banjou has been framed for murder, lost the love of his life, become a Kamen Rider, and then there’s that stretch with the evil alien trying to take destroy the world. Today’s gallery takes us back to Banjou’s beginnings, when he was still learning what it meant to be a hero. S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Cross-Z is here!

Cross-Z is Banjou’s first outing in the Figuarts toyline with his 2nd form, Cross-Z Charge, releasing this week as well. Cross-Z though, is a really great repaint & remold of the basic Build Rabbit/Tank Form with a few dynamic changes that go a long way to selling it as a brawler form. While there are admittedly some minor issues with articulation, the figure looks wonderful in hand and the included Beat Crosser is the perfect accessory for it.

We’ve attached the full 55+ image gallery to this post but you can also check out our full review thread by clicking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post. Next time we’ll be back for another Kamen Rider Build gallery with S.H. Figuarts Machine Builder!

Kamen Rider Zi-O Rider Kicks Figures (RKF) Images: Build, Evol, Cross-Z, Grease

Posted on July 25, 2018 at 3:15 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider

As we approach the premiere of Kamen Rider Zi-O in September, we’re continuing to see more and more images of the toyline for the upcoming show. Today brings us a look at this year’s main “gimmick” line with the first wave of RKF (Rider Kicks Figures).

RKF looks to be a general action figure line rather than one truly driven by a gimmick as in years past. The line is composed of characters from across the Heisei Era and will also be featuring power up armors for Kamen Rider’s Zi-O & Gates. The first wave of releases is dominated by Kamen RIder Build characters including; Build (Rabbit/Tank), Cross-Z, Grease, Evol (Cobra), and the Be The One film exclusive form Cross-Z Build (Rabbit/Dragon).

Cross-Z is listed with a 2160 yen price point and October release date, while Evol & Cross-Z Build each bare a 2700 yen price point with November release dates. The first wave of 6 RKF figures are all up for pre-order at HLJ currently. These pre-orders include Ex-Aid Level 2 who isn’t shown in these initial scans. We’ll be sure to keep you informed as more information about this toyline becomes available.

New Gridman Vinyl Line Announced: Strong Style Sofvi Series

Posted on July 25, 2018 at 2:51 pm by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, Ultraman

Appropriately given the same acronym as the show itself, SSSS Gridman has had it’s first merchandise revealed with the Strong Style Sofvi Series of vinyls. Produced in conjunction with Fine Clover, a company known for it’s frequent collaboration with Good Smile Company, the line looks to be off to a very strong, and well, stylish start.

So far we have our first looks at the modern Gridman of the SSSS series as well as the original Denkou Choujin Gridman. More are sure to follow, hopefully with some Kaiju as well like the original toyline. For now, these look to be pretty impressive vinyls and the first Gridman vinyls to have been produced since the original series wrapped in the mid 90’s.

When full release details become available we’ll be sure to update you with that information.

Images from SSSS Gridman Special Night Including Physical Suit

Posted on July 25, 2018 at 2:39 pm by Den-O under General Tokusatsu News, Uncategorized

Today the production team behind the Denkou Choujin Gridman revival project, SSSS Gridman, held a live event called Gridman Special Night to promote the October premiere of the series.

The event featured interviews with the cast and crew, hi-res looks at character & kaiju designs, and a surprising look at a physical live action suit for SSSS Gridman! This suit was surely produced for promotional purposes rather than any real use in a live action production, but it’s unquestionable just how good it looks standing next to the original Gridman. Hopefully this isn’t the last we’ve seen of it.

SSSS Gridman officially premieres this October!

S.H. Figuarts Hell Bros Images Released

Posted on July 22, 2018 at 8:12 am by Den-O under Kamen Rider

While a heavily watermarked scan from Figure Oh appeared yesterday confirming that this release was on the way, we now have a great selection of in hand images as well. The next release from Kamen Rider Build will be S.H. Figuarts Hell Bros!

The combined form of Engine Bros & Remocon Bros, Hell Bros is the first of the Kaiser family of characters to be released in the line. The official S.H. Figuarts Blog has shared this selection of in hand prototype images giving us a great idea of what to expect from the final release. Based on the excellent Night Rogue/Blood Stalk mold, Hell Bros looks like he’ll fit in just perfectly with your Build Collection.

While release month & price are not included in the blog post, we do know that pre-orders will begin through the Tamashii Web Shop on July 27th. We’ll let you know when final official images, and release info are available.
